Don’t think anyone is going to knock off Nudgee.

Have seen over the past few years quite a few boys from BBC and Terrace doing preseason down at St Lucia . Gives UQ a leg in the door for the following year’s Colts. There’s nothing formal and not sure how many other clubs this might happen with , but you would think that Laurie’s / BSHS and...

Best Welcome to Country ever ….. well done!

Not a great showing , lacked shape in attack , Kalani’s passes were pop gun at best to whoever happened to be standing near the ball. Too much ball given away cheaply with poor kicks when in attack……. But by far and away the worst performance was the ref and his interpretation of the scrums. Has...

Blyth brothers named in the row for Bond tomorrow. I know they started at least once together last year, but no doubt would still be a buzz for them. Blake and Jeans also named in the starting lineup .

Don’t necessarily agree with “ nothing at stake” , I’m sure the players chosen would have seen it as a chance for at least being considered for future selection…….. but regardless, could also add ….. 3. A Barbarians’ team staked with French players . They are the real deal , developing nicely...

Interesting that the #8 named is captain after being told Titi had been given the honour with Mason as his deputy. Maybe the initial info was not quite on the money?

The two form teams at the moment are Wests and Brothers. UQ just lost their third game in a row which hasn’t happened since 2019 , they did win the GF that year after sneaking into 4th spot in the last regular game of the season. So you can can never really write them off.

Tom Lynagh named in Colts 1 for UQ this weekend , Brad Twidale back for First Grade.

Vest is a passionate rugby player, he loves being out there and being part of a team. If he is unavailable it wouldn't be because he would rather not play.

Jack Howarth was very good in contact . Would be a real handful running the 13 channel in a game of rugby.

    Reds 2023

Yeah, the Reds have very quickly become skinny in the hybrid backrower stakes. Think we will miss ASY (Angus Scott-Young) , his versatility and work ethic will be hard to replace, particularly with TTT also on the move. Not sure what he is up to contract wise, but Hugh Bokenham might be worth a shot for the Reds...

Nick Baker would mostly be considered a 7 at Super Rugby level. Would struggle to offer cover for 6/8. Already have Wright who can play 7 if McReight is down and Uru who can cover 4/5/6/8. How many 7’s do you need ?

I’m sure they would send selectors / coaches out to any major championship or carnival. The pathways changed in 2019 and it went well that one year when it all ran to plan before Covid made a mess of both the Academy and Schoolboys pathways for 2020/21. The last year we had traditional Qld...

Got to remember it’s an U18 team , not a schoolboys team . Quite a few of the boys with clubs named after them were at a GPS school last year.

You could add JOC (James O'Connor) and Pocock to "ones that got away " list. Where players are developed means more than where they spent and few years of their childhood. In the Vaihu's case the family moved to Melbourne from Tonga for a chance at a new life. Both Glen and David spent all of their secondary...

    Reds 2023

I rate Wallis as a rugby player, but his issue in taking the next step up to Super Rugby is his height. Both the Reds and the Rebels have only really seen him as a 7/20. Not really tall enough to be a lineout option. Get the feeling he is stuck in between 7 & 6/8. He plays like an 8 , but his body size...

Wow , impressive lineup. That’s what a NRC team used to look like , could be a hard day at the office for Souths !

That makes the named starting lineup a little easier to understand. Big changes to the forward pack and a new 9 .

With Harry Parker named on the wing and Alex Horan at 12 that’s three Ex-Wallabies’ sons in the backline. Pity Josh Nasser and Ferg Lillicrap aren’t also starting , would have made five in the starting lineup .
