    Queensland Reds 2024

A really good overview TSR. Will try to do something similar for the Brumbies. Hope you log into the Brumbies thread and have a read. On the Reds, I think the critical question will be how Les Kiss performs, or has the team performing.

    Lions Tour 2025

Yeah, agree. That's why I'd rather a selection of NZ players who are playing in the Aussie Super teams rather than those who would otherwise be in the running for ABs spots who are playing elsewhere. Let NZ look after them, but we could give those who are, or who will soon be, eligible for the...

Any reason to leave Sam Cane out? Retallick?

    Lions Tour 2025

I think the concept could work if it is limited to NZ players from Aussie Super Rugby sides together with a selection of Aus A standard players. Would give the likes of JTA, Hodgeman, Sefo Kautai, Jahrome Brown, Tamati Tua and Ollie Sapsford a chance to show their wares at this higher level.

Greatly exaggerated I think are the words.

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby

MS and H35, I can see the issue in the English and European competitions over the holiday period, but it looks a lot different to the loads on players here to me. I'm sure every team here is alert to and implement some resting protocols during the Super Rugby season, but last year the mandated rest...

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby

MS was it poor administration of the resting policy, poor timing or just the bastardry of one EJ (Eddie Jones) that completely stuffed up the Brumbies and possibly the Wallabies chances last year? Two losses by the Brumbies coincided with the resting of players who in the event played little or no part in...

    Refereeing decisions

    I think so too.

    Refereeing decisions

Had a go and got 12 out of 20 right - 60%. Thought I'd get around the 70% mark, but not to be. A few surprising answers, like refs are obliged to call time off for players to tie up their boot laces. The off side law with the retreating player being put onside after the 10 kicks it is also...

The one and only Wallaby Coach thread

I would presume each of the head coach candidates will bring with them their preferred assistant coaching team. The decision on the HC might well turn on the quality of the whole team, as it apparently did against Deans for the ABs HC spot years ago.

I have no ill feeling towards the fans or the players, but this seems to encapsulate the history of the Rebels as an organisation since their introduction. If the reports are correct that they currently have debts of $9m, how the hell do they think they will get out of it this time? Surely...

    Aussie Player Exodus

When did he learn to tackle? I reckon his defensive frailties were what kept him out of the Wallabies.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I still think it was a mistake not to keep the Rebels players in Melbourne and playing for local clubs when not required at Super level. Returning to Brisbane or Sydney cannot be doing much for club connection or loyalty. The Canberra situation seems to be working very smoothly for the mutual...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Exactly, and while I don't wish misfortune onto the Rebels fans or players, I think there is a lot of heads being buried in the sand on here at the moment.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I have Prime as well as Stan. I have been entirely happy with the rugby coverage on Stan, but I don't think there's much difference between Prime and Stan. Maybe I am swayed a bit by it being better the devil you know, so no issues if rugby stays on Stan.

    Australian Rugby / RA

And, of course, events have shown just how wrong they (the Reds and Brumbies) were in moving against McLennan. So, no vote. Then it looks like the disagreement with the undefined move to centralisation was at the initiative of the Reds and supported by the Brumbies. It wasn't a vote that never...

That's a very narrow definition of success, Sully. By that measure there has been only one successful side in Super Rugby over the best part of the past ten years. I would contend that the success of the Crusaders (the only side that consistently wins the damn thing) has been detrimental to...

Adam, I wasn't aware the matter had been put to a vote by the Brumbies. Can you tell me when the vote took place and who voted? I certainly didn't get a vote as a member. Precisely what was the model that was rejected? As I understand the situation, the Brumbies and Reds have given their...

I don't really have the connection or time to be watching rugby in the North, but I see that Leicester is in second spot behind Leinster in their pool for the Champions Cup. As a more than interested observer of Dan McKellar's progress as coach, and remembering Leicester apparently got off to a...
