    Kooga now BLK?

KooGa are going to be changing most - if not all - of the products they can sell overseas, to BLK. It's because they don't own the KooGa brand in NZ.

    Thoughts on Folau to rugby

In an alternate universe, I could see the Rebs making a play for him. Some of the bids were making a bit of noise about it before he signed to GWS. But yes, we need a hooker, no, we don't have the cash, and yes, it would likely just be a stunt.

Maximising the opportunity of Rugby 7s in Australia

There's a quote that I read somewhere regarding Twenty20 cricket that I think illustrates why we should look at Sevens more seriously. 'I never liked Twenty20 cricket until I watched it.' Personal opinions of T20 aside, it has arguably done more for cricket in the modern era than Packer and...

A Proposal For A New Third Tier Competition In Australia

I reckon it's a winner. Sevens is a cracking live sport (though I believe it doesn't telecast well - or maybe we just don't know how to telecast it yet - either way, existing rugby telecast methods don't really suit it) and I think we could get a good series out of it. Apart from keeping state...

A Proposal For A New Third Tier Competition In Australia

Here's throwing something out there - what about a sevens series? State/franchise teams meet once every few weeks for a carnival. Maybe where-ever there's a Super bye. Cuts down on player costs, travel costs, helps for Rio, probably more marketable. Yeah, good idea Stu.

    ARU Governance Report

NSWRU and Waratahs Rugby are separate entites joined by ownership, aren't they? The NSWRU have licenced the team to an entity that they own? Or am I incorrect? (Not being facecious - I'm actually not sure) The reason I count the Rebels and VRU differently is because they are two different...

    ARU Governance Report

It's an interesting voting system once the union-run teams are taken into account. RugbyWA would be happy. NSWRU 3 QRU 3 ACTRU 2 RugbyWA 2 VRU 1 Rebels 1 SARU 1 TASRU 1 NTRU 1 Players 1

    ARU Governance Report

The AFL Commission didn't directly involve the other bodies. It formed in 1985 out of the VFL, as the league was about to expand into WA and Queensland. The semi-equivalent body at the time, the Australian National Football Council, was disbanded in 1993 once Adelaide joined the league, and all...

    Yep. This isn't good.

The TV Broadcasting of Australian Rugby

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. With the Murdochs owning Ten and FOX Sports, there's now no chance of Super Rugby going free-to-air. Highlights show will probably follow Mass For You At Home. Live broadcasts are doubtful for the same reason.

An Independent Commission for Australian Rugby?

I thought that's what the report was going to be. This and the 3rd tier threads printed out.

All Blacks sponsored by the US taxpayer.

See? For $20m/year, the NZRU would be in hysterics.

    John O'Neill resigns

Won't miss him. Apart from Deans, three particularly poor moves under his second reign were getting rid of the ARC, disbanding Australia A and relying on Sevens for development, and consolidating into a restricted national academy. I believe it's only a matter of time before we get caught out...

It's tiiiiiiiiiiny. If I were AIG, I would be furious. Look how it's done. Either do it properly or don't do it.
