Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

I’m a data guy so crunched some numbers on the last 5 RWC. Many have been saying this has been the most competitive yet, my eyes have been seeing the reverse (minus the qtrs). Out of the 5 RWC this has been the most points scored (winners) and 2nd least (losers). It also has the highest margin...

We need to clarify a few things. What constitutes development? A large percentage of SS players play for these clubs for opportunity and had very little to do with them at a young age. They go through these clubs because that’s the next stepping stone, not because they are products from 5yrs of...

$3m haha. If that were the case and the fact they aren’t “paying” their players, where on earth is this money going and why are they consistently crying poor and asking for additional funding

Of course the roar has editors. It’s not just some random blog where people can contribute.

This again is the wrong thinking. There is plenty of guys 14-15 that are elite athletes that could train to become a prop. This means different strength and conditioning, etc. a guy identified at that age for rugby league of course isn’t going to be a 130kg bohemian because the program he’s been...

    Rugby World Cup 2023

No because Ireland was about 8-10 games deep into their season by the time they played NZ last week. Each team had numerous warm up games and 4 group games. Plus we are consistently hearing at the end of season tours both by SH and NH teams that they aren’t at peak performance.

Amen This is a guarantee winning the hearts and minds of the populace. I have just returned from Fiji and was amazed at the Drua’s reach. They were on the wheetbix box, etc. it’s such a small investment for a massive geopolitical win.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

NHL currently going through their best dressed players of the week segment in the broadcast haha. I know NBA always covers what people are wearing. Are we prepared to let things like this into the fabric of the game to generate interest from casuals or specifically younger audiences? Not...

This is solved in my eyes by playing more games. The guys in other countries have been faced with so many different scenarios on the field numerous times. We classify people in super rugby as been experienced when they have 100 caps. 100 caps is something you achieve before you are 25 in Europe...

Didn’t we make the final with the guy that was selected?

I’m not sure if it’s exact science that you need to play the best to improve, I’m more in the camp that you just need to play at a level that at a minimum forces you to make decisions and apply a certain level of pressure to improve. Reason why I say this is that Ireland is undoubtedly the...

    2. Yes you can, it’s what European football, European basketball and European rugby are all built on. It’s not tiered it’s just a different comp to win. Most euro teams in the champions cup only play 4 mixed international club comp games a year. It’s hardly what’s driving the improvement over...

Apparently Jones has agreed to a contract with Japan. Had the news on in the background and it’s just come up as breaking news.

I honestly think Mack Hansen saw himself about as Irish as a boomerang

Agreed with gainline if he wasn’t an ex player he wouldn’t get the credence in rugby circles. If the product was life changing for sporting circles, all the major football, nfl, nba, etc teams would be clamoring for the services. They simply don’t ignore even the slightest competitive advantage...

    Rugby World Cup 2023

Look I think there is clearly a difference in the Koroibete’s of this world to the James Lowe’s as one moved here before the opportunity to play for the national team was provided, the other only moved there because the offer to play for the national team was provided. Both by the laws are...

Makes me wonder if RA have known, which in all probability would have, but they have been keeping a stance on him leaving so a hefty payout of contract would be required from Japan to get Jones.

No no no The real question is why can’t a country of 26m people which has a higher propensity per person to engage with contact sports than any other country produce enough players for 5 teams? This isn’t trying to fill 10-15 team league, a measly 5 teams. 5 teams in any professional sporting...

    Queensland Reds 2024

The press release is full of silly overblown numbers. If there is 16,000 genuine female participants of rugby well then they definitely don’t live near my club or any of the clubs we play. Why do we consistently peddle out numbers like this to try and fool people about the health of the game...

I’m pretty sure RA and NZRU hold the naming rights of those associated with the jersey. Don’t think it would cost them anything to buy use of players name on a jersey. Maybe I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure it’s part of the collective bargaining agreement
