Never said Terrace were the best in broken field play over the years. Just making the point they seemed to have the talent indicated by their abilities in attack during unstructured play. But when it came to structured play by Terrace those abilities seemed to have been curtailed because of...

@ Garry Owens It seemed to me that the Terrace players did not or could not depart from the usual structure that they have been coached to play. With a combination of slippery ball and ground and BSHS reading the predictable play so well the GT players were picked off so methodically, causing...

Agree with this. I was at the BSHS v GT game yesterday and if any finger pointing to be done from a GT perspective it should be at the coach as I came away feeling BSHS outcoached GT with a much better game plan suited to the conditions. The wet conditions started to impact half way through...

Thanks for teams lists HJ. Are the two TSS centres new to the school this year? Interesting that no u16's made the TSS team. I thought van der Schyff was more than a very good chance.

Hugh, unfortunately I think you are spot on the money with this prediction for the Schoolboys Champs for this year. I do not think Qld will have the strength in the forwards to challenge.

Wallabies vs England, Sydney, 3rd Test, 25 June @ 8:00pm

Some dumb rugby. No composure, particularly with plenty of time left (over 10 Mins). Wallabies making it so hard for themselves.

Selectors getting together in a couple of days and selecting teams based on what they saw in first round (and past reputation, no doubt). It should be an interesting meeting.

I agree. This team has been solid over last two seasons. Extremely strong but some are still learning the structures (and discipline) which makes them vulnerable at times. I don't think many from this age will be run on in Firsts so their team continuity will be stronger than some other schools.

The NC forwards particularly in first half seemed more like the 2nd XV combo trialling for spots in Firsts. I see the injury list probably contributed to this. At this point i am surprised that the NC backline is not firing to what I think their potential is. BSHS have the weight up front and...

While I do not think the results of the GPS trials will be definitive because they are trials, we should start to get indications of how teams will start to stack up. With a couple of months before the season proper begins, no doubt injuries and maintaining form will be factors that could cloud...

Agreed, a big loss for Nudgee. He was a very strong contender for a spot in Nudgee Firsts this year, with injuries and form in the older age group clearing the path. Over the years I thought he was at the top end of half backs in his age group.

I saw the above and another post by BraveandGame stating: "I could be very wrong as I haven't seen him since mid last season but I would have thought Howard would be lucky to be 85 Kg's - I can't see a 80+kg 16 year old in a First 15 front row." And I didn't think that was fair for a number of...

Yes, they knocked over St Pats fairly easily for a first up game.

TGS toured NZ. Sounded like a fairly successful tour but did not win every game, but a good win over Christchurch Boys' High.

I thought young Thomas Van Der Schyff would have been lined up for No. 8. Will he be fitting in at blindside flanker?

Will there be eligibility issues if this boy only started in Term 3 of yr11?

I do appreciate your contributions B&G but do scratch my head sometimes. I believe that Macklin and Howard have rowed together in same crew over last couple of seasons. Yet you say one is putting on extra bulk but you fear the other will be too lean. Which one is it when they would be doing...

Nasser may be a loose head option if the big u16 boy starting in yr10 can measure up as a tight head. There is also Keefer who played prop last year for about four games when Birgan was injured. Howard would be preferred at 6 to Kelly for the exact reasons that you say Kelly may not measure up...
