    Rugby - not set pieces

Had the pleasure today of watching UBB v Montpellier in Bordeaux. Happy snap of Ben Mowen about to catch after I suggested somewhat loudly to the hooker that he should throw it to Ben. Montpellier scored from the lineout which did not make me super popular with locals. Aussie fans could take...

There could be one lad on the Matt Street scholarship, who by definition may be a fair rugby player.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2014

IIRC there were 5 Year 11 boys involved in this heinous crime and were given a weeks holiday for their trouble.

Possibly best to research the QAGPS swimming website to verify specious claims made on this site. Not saying there are no scholars but the previous poster's contentions are clearly wrong (am anal and have done the 2013 and 2014 comparison). My observations are: 1. Two boys improved beyond their...

In 2002 Kings was putting cricket scores on other GPS schools with students whose enrollment circumstances may not have been totally understood by the headmaster. Maybe the decline in playing numbers is a consequence of many factors (too many helicopter mums for one). What happened at Scots in...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Now 7 years out of the JRUFC so am not current. I am interested that some of the debate revolves around keeping private school boys in the comp. Bottom line is they keep playing rugby at their schools and thereafter if they choose. My interest is in engaging the high school boys who for one...

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2014

Basically agree. I think there was some debate earlier about a neighbouring club that couldn't get the numbers for a team, maybe they could have merged if motives are purely altruistic.

You've lost me - are you inferring they only focus on one winter sport. I seem to recollect Joeys 1st/2nds winning the football only 2 years ago.

Surprised the 35ers get a reunion. Thought their year would have been erased from the school records.

For which country is Nadolo eligible?

Early nomination for most ignorant post of the year.

I think you will find he was more involved than you suspect. But hey let's throw another whistleblower under the bus.

GPS sport has historically been free of unhealthy adult influence (aka parents) as teachers were able to keep everything in perspective for the boys. This has now changed with the emergence of "bad" so called educators, together with increasing numbers of helicopter/drone parents.

Waratahs vs Crusaders 2014 Super Rugby Grand Final

Cue Flying High McCroskey: "Guess I picked a bad week to quit smoking/drinking/sniffing glue/amphetamines etc"

Unfortunate negative inference here - Duffy is son of old boy - was always going to do Year 11/12 at Joeys, moved from Stannies to Kinross due to a change in his family's circumstances.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics. Some schools like parading their band 6s in the HSC but this does not directly translate to good ATAR outcomes, given some courses are more heavily discounted than others in the calculation. I think you will find some schools tweak what courses their students...

Very fair point and happens at other schools where boys choose studies over an intensive "2nd" team environment, especially rowing. It is up to the school to make sure their teams/crews are correctly seeded.

Happy to be corrected but I thought it was possible to come in at Year 7 on a bursary, particularly if they are boarders.

Anyway, 15 seconds of glory for a few posters on this site, albeit IS has already achieved a degree of media notoriety. PS to those who were not quoted or did not comment - "Fire up boys, fire up!"

Farr-Jones' and Kearns' comments would have carried more weight last year when their school was dishing up the thrashings.
