    Australian Schoolboys / Under 18s 2019

Having observed the new pathways close up, I’m a bit non-plussed, to be fair. Back in the day, you wanted to get little Johnny onto the inside rail, you shelled out for GPS school fees. These days, the academy road is the only thing that matters State Champs was previously a dying...

    Australian Schoolboys / Under 18s 2019

Last year, Gordon JRU went as far as to publish a notice distancing themselves from Cavaliers and warning parents about that not being an official pathway. It might even still be up on the website. Good advice, especially as everyone secretly knows the real official pathway instead runs right...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I'm a big fan of McCaffrey and his style of play. Unfortunately though, when you're on the outside, then you've just got to do that bit dazzle to get noticed. He had his big chance last weekend and didn't take it. Sad for him, but true

    The Israel Folau saga

The transgender wrestler thing isn’t as straightforward as it seems, with it being the puritans who are preventing this athlete from changing teams, not the PC brigade Highly moving and worth the watch

Rd 9: Brumbies vs Lions, Saturday 13 April 7:45pm AEST

All fair comments and good debate It’s nice to actually be able to debate positions/selections now that we’ve got some depth. Good times. :)

Rd 9: Brumbies vs Lions, Saturday 13 April 7:45pm AEST

McCaffrey’s problem is that he apparently doesn’t fit with the Wallaby ‘style of play’ (whatever that means) Apparently Timu and Samu are not suffering from the same weaknesses For me, at what point does Australian rugby NOT want a ball-playing no.8? FFS. When did we want some random meat...

Rd 9: Brumbies vs Lions, Saturday 13 April 7:45pm AEST

Well done Brumbs. Solid win against quality opposition Powell is a World Cup Wallaby this year or I’ll give the game away

Rd 9: Brumbies vs Lions, Saturday 13 April 7:45pm AEST

Wright’s got terrific speed and leg drive. His only problem in league was his defence. Still like him at 12 though. Plenty of potential.

Rd 9: Brumbies vs Lions, Saturday 13 April 7:45pm AEST

McCaffery is probably the best player at the Brumbies. He still won’t be invited to any Wallaby camps LOL

    The Israel Folau saga

I’d be amused to know how many of the nation’s ‘free speechers’ would be willing to go into work on Monday and exercise their free speech within the earshot of the boss.

    Waratahs 2019

Le Roux came on for the Marlins off the bench on Saturday Possibly the largest human being in the world. He looked like a giant playing against kids He just sort of trundled about though, as I recall.

    Brumbies 2019

I’ll confess I’m baffled with Simone You can sit there and watch him carve them up at NRC level but then he’s invisble at Super level - and it’s not because of physical gifts, because he’s got them in spades I’d normally prefer him with more space at 13 but maybe the Brumbs masterstroke is to...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

Are the schools allowed to prevent boys from playing club? I know they discourage them, but if your pathway to rep honours requires you to play some club as well, can the school stop you?

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

Agree. I think a next step might be to have Schoolboys team selected only from players who have made themselves eligible by playing 6-7 club games during the year. Would immediately re-vitalise the club scene, but no doubt cause a big stink in the process.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

This entire thread makes me chuckle. Guys defending their patch and arguing about the minutiae of who does what and where. We've been told repeatedly that there's no scholarships. The natural and only conclusion for why AAGPS is so vastly superior in rugby to CHS, is that rich people have...

Possibles vs Probables Friday 3rd August 6.45pm kickoff

This. +1 Games like this just give Genia a chance to show his class. And yes, what class he has. The 9 jersey is sooo important in rugby. Anyone who thinks otherwise need only watch this match.

ACT Brumbies v NSW Waratahs, GIO Stadium 31 March

McCaffrey is such a classy player He’s basically an 8 playing at 6 but it’s been a long time since we’ve had a ball-playing backrower in the Oz competition (apart from maybe Hoiles?) that it makes a pleasurable change. Good on him

Round 7 - Brumbies v Reds, GIO Stadium, Canberra Sat 8th Apr @ 7:45PM AEST

I thought the Brumbies were excellent. There's a lot to like there, particularly (from a Wallaby perspective) Ala'alatoa and Powell. Very encouraging. The Reds looked a bit lost, so don't want to criticise too much. However, Higgers continues to show his discipline is still a worry. He...

Wallabies v Pumas - Saturday 17 September, nib Stadium Perth

Brumby Runner I agree that Cheika isn't perhaps managing the process that well but I feel a little better knowing that he at least has some purpose in mind. Organised chopping-and-changing being a little more comforting than the totally random variety! :)
