    Reds 2017

The forwards have been the "least worst" part of the Reds, though. The ruck work is average, sure. But MOC's areas, backs, attack and defence, has been shocking. What was unbelievable was the article(s) saying that MOC was favourite for the head coach job when his areas of responsibility are...

    Reds 2017

I still think there's some serious quality lacking sadly. Hopeful with a better coaching team it'll be better for next year.

Glad we have H. Tui though, he carries strongly. A bit disappointed with Browning last night, he needs to use his size more and drive his legs in contact instead of simply stopping.

Reds defensive structure throughout the game was still too passive. I don't know if it's a fitness thing or not, but plenty of time they stood behind the advantage line and waited for the Brumbies to run the ball to them. All too easy for the Brumbies to walk down the field so often. The...

Apart from "get the ball to Kerevi" the attack has very little.

That really scares me judging how bad our back play is this year.

Don't disagree, just that Nucifora is a poor example. At some point you need to give performing local coaches a shot. In these cases though I have little issue going foreign, particularly if Blackadder is the best person for the role. I don't think that Stiles is there yet, and MOC...

But you're missing a heap of context there. When Nucifora took over the Brumbies in 2002 the Brumbies had won in 2001 and lost the final in 2000. Nucifora took over what was the best team in the comp at the time. And the team were not happy with how he was managing them, there's plenty of...

Yeah, lucky the game wasn't close. That was a fine tackle for mine, but if your arm falls off that quickly you run the risk of a ref lottery. Wasn't a good call, but you can at least see why they got it wrong. I'd be more annoyed at stuff that Lees missed, like Wells walking around a Reds...

Ah well. I can dream that MOC is sacked and we get a new backs coach. More likely that Stiles will be gone though. At least our rucks will improve, I guess. Stiles is a great set piece coach but his ruck work seems pretty average. Sad seeing Hyne at the end there on crutches.

They are not related. Tui went to Japan from NZ to play rugby and got capped due to his time there.

Some messy side to side Reds play and Magnay goes over the sideline to end the game. 43 - 24 to the Brumbies, you can't say it's not a fair reflection on the two teams. Brumbies miss out on the bonus point?

Tongan Thor in for a consolation try. Kerevi made the break that set that up. I shudder to think of where we'd be without Kerevi. There is some hope, Paia'ua has gone well since he came on, Tongan Thor shows a lot of promise. The rucks are a shambles though, and defensive structure is...

So how does MOC hold down a backline coaching gig? The general play from phase ball from the Reds backs is appalling. They stand deep and shovel static ball, you can't tell me that's not what they practice. I feel for some of the better Reds players being part of this mess :(

Brumbies with another big maul, they've had the Reds number there all night. Since about 60 minutes it's been all Brumbies, and they go in again. Back to the good ol' Reds shambles.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm ashamed he's one of the Aussie refs, surely we have better than him.

    H. Tui for the Reds there just a shocking read, the pillar can't move while the halfback has the ball. And even so, he needs to watch for the inside ball so needs to stay on the half back's inside shoulder. It's schoolboy stuff, Reds! Cubelli read it beautifully though.

Cubelli again, just too clever and the Reds ruck defence shocking.

How can that scrum not result in one of the teams being penalised? Just penalise one. Make a decision.

An Andrew Lees special. Brumbies player walks around while the ball is still in the ruck (as it lookde like popping out but doesn't) to ruin the Reds ball. Lees happy to play on, then penalises the Reds for off their feet at the next ruck. Well played, Lees, well played.
