    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

With Easts withdrawing from the Compass Cup, Souths and the other clubs have had to find a new range of trial opportunities. Today's trial for 1st grade was against the Maroochydore Black Swans. The trial provided the opportunity to develop game plans and structures and ease back a few players...

I forgot to mention Phransis Sula-Siaosi from the Reds as well as the four Junior Wallabies, Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, John Bryant, Willem Johnstone and Taj Annan to come back to Clubland at some time.

Souths produced some good early trial form coming away with a 33-28 win over Bond Uni. The Magpies are, once again, a very young team but they have some excellent young talent. There are quite a number of players still out with niggling injuries who will have to show great form when they come...

The Compass Cup doesn't exist anymore. Easts withdrew this year, preferring to trial against other teams. Souths have trialed against Norths last weekend, Bond on Saturday at Wests after the Club Championship, Maroochydore at Souths on 11th March and Sunnybank at Sunnybank on 18th March.

Great to see so much Qld. representation in the Junior Wallabies Under 20 Train On squad. Being parochial, congratulations to Harry McLaughlin-Philips, John Bryant and Willem Johnstone from Souths on your selection.

Yes. From 1986, when Souths won their first GF since 1958, to date they have appeared in 15 Grand Finals, winning nine.

In those same 25 years, Souths have appeared in 5 GF's, winning three.

What about the referee in a Prem game a few years back who was heard over a "hot" mic at halftime making derogatory comments about a particular club and stating that he would be penalising their scrum out of the game in the second half.

Garrick didn't play QPR because QPR didn't exist when he played for Souths. The Brisbane club competition was just known as A Grade or 1st Grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade etc. etc.

Garrick Morgan, Ray Thomas, Darren Rees and Graham Herlihy confirmed as Souths 1st Grade Coaching group for 2023. Congratulations to all and best wishes for 2023. A Magpie For Me!!

I was told by Wests officials and others before the Major Semi-Final that Vunivalu can't play for Wests in the finals because he was not registered by the Club before the July 6th cut-off. Ooops!!

I think you might find that Brothers will be in the Third Grade Major Semi-Final not Souths. It looks like their result from yesterday hasn't been put in Rugby Explorer yet. Not sure why!

I believe one of the reasons KT left Souths in 2021, was he felt he should be playing Prems not Colts 1 or Reggies. Will be interesting where he plays.

I think Life Membership of Souths and more than 50 years of playing, coaching, administration and volunteering would qualify as well connected with the Club. I am in regular conversation with the coaching staff of both Premier Grade and Reserve Grade and the players in both teams and not once in...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2022

Once again on this forum, armchair commentators with no connection to Souths, make totally ignorant statements about coaches and players. Look at the team lists for Premier Grade and Reggies over the last few weeks and tell me who are the Reggies who refuse to play in Prems. There is constant...

Wrong! They made the semi-finals in 2020 but unfortunately saved their worst game of the season for the knock-out Minor Semi-Final.

I think you have the dates wrong for the Finals. Should be 4th, 11th and 18th September.
