    QLD Colts 2023

Just a question about the "two year window" of playing under age kids in an Under 20's competition. I thought the two year window was introduced to minimise the risk of serious injury after the tragic injury suffered by Perry Cross.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

There are discounts for players coming through a Club's Junior and Colts programmes and there are discounts for long-service at one Club.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

There are a number of differences in the guidelines being used by the QRU. There is no discount for family connections and there is no reference to overseas players.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

In the guidelines sent out by the QRU there is no mention of a discount for having siblings at a Club. There are discounts if you came from your Club's Juniors District(played continuously) then to their local Senior Club.

Wallabies before discounts are assigned 20 points, Super Rugby contracted players are 10 points. Discounts apply: One point per year discount for players who have previously played Colts and/or Grade with the Club. It will be interesting!

It will be interesting with Brothers, Wests and Bond when the trialling of the 100 points "salary cap" comes in from early June. With all their rep players it will be hard to stay under the 100 points.

The Colts 4 is also undefeated. The programme is working very well. Willem Johnstone started in Colts last weekend and then benched again for 1st grade.

He played for UQ v Easts on 22nd April but was not in last week's line-up.

There are a number of young props being developed. It looks like the Reds have finally seen enough of Zander. He hasn't been in the 23 for a few weeks.

They were lucky to get away with the win against Souths, 4 minutes into extra time.

I stand to be corrected by I am almost 100% sure that Jake Straker hasn't played at a senior level for Souths.

Interesting statistic for the Souths v GPS game. Just saw the GPS line-up and note there are six players who have previously played at Souths, either in Grades, Colts or Juniors. Jacob Morrison, Jason Hofmeyer, Chris Kuridrani, Alex Casey, Jake Simeon and Moses Jones. Should make for an...

Exactly. In the 70's my Rugby club existed by means of chook and meat tray raffles. Friday evening at "Ripper" Doyle's Coronation Hotel under the Grey Street Bridge near the Milk Factory, Saturday morning at Chardons Corner Hotel, Saturday afternoon at the Salisbury Hotel and Sunday's late...

How times change. Growing up in the 50's and 60's and as a young adult in the 70's, there was absolutely no sport played on Good Friday. There were no licenced premises open. There was no sport played before 1pm on ANZAC Day either.

Phransis Sula-Siaosi and Taj Annan were withdrawn by the Reds. Too many minutes played on Friday night, apparently. Kalani Thomas and Mac Grealy were OK, apparently. The Magpies played well again. Gutsing out an important win. Freshen up over Easter and then away to GPS, then the bye...

The same player was on a warning for another high shot about eight minutes before. He was penalised for that one. Maybe the ref considered that seeing this was his second piece of foul play that it pushed it from yellow into red card territory?

Souths got the bogey of Norths off their back, with a comprehensive 7 tries to nil win, 41-3. Goal kicking was off on the day with just three converted. Souths' try line defence was outstanding . New team captain, Kohan Herbert was MOTM with a non-stop performance.

Yes it is one and the same. Kohan has been playing the house down in the trials and he has, in fact, been captaining the 1st grade in all the trials. Certainly one to watch for the Mighty Magpies.

Another strong trials performance by Souths today against Sunnybank. 2nds 45-0 and 1sts 55-5. The Premier Grade welcomed back some of their Reds, Rebels and Junior Wallaby reps as well as a couple of players returning from injury. The heat was oppressive but they threw the ball around, scoring 9...

Totally agree. For a number of years my son was living in London and playing Club/Grassroots rugby. On a visit over to the UK to see him, I decided to go with him on a Saturday to watch him play. No car so we had to walk 15 minutes to the train. Train ride of about 30 minutes. Line maintenance...
