    Qld Premier Rugby 2013

The Bond Uni commitment to rugby union (especially 7s) has to be seen to be believed. Given Bond is also the home ground for the Breakers, and the former Vice Chancellor of UQ, who played a part in the effective reintegration of the Club with the Uni, is now the Chancellor of Bond, I'd fully...

I'd probably toss Anthony Matheson, who has been an assistant coach to Heenan at GPS and at Uni,into the mix too. He's done very well with an extremely young forward pack & high player turnover over te past few years. Not sure Heeno would take the pay cut involved with coaching full time...

That comes from having a different opponent each week :)

    Qld Premier Rugby 2013

Generally when one side turns up to win and the other doesn't, there are signs from the start. A one point half time margin tends to indicate that wasn't the case. I agree that the centres for GPS were immense and they enjoyed the 10min player advantage. There were lots of errors from both...

    QLD Colts 2013

It's a bit of poetic justice for the Breakers though. Last year GC and Uni were locked up in the GF and the Breakers kicked out on the full thinking there was extra time. I can't recall if Uni scored the first try or if there were no tries scored, but Uni won the premiership in a drawn game...

I thought Brett Gillespie was a great choice for the Alec Evans Medal. Few would question his leadership, commitment and presence on the field and I'd argue that by attracting the attention of other teams he has allowed Greene the space to shine. I can't think of any other player who has...

You can doubt all you want, I don't mind. Just passing along what his manager said.

Great wrap up tigerland12 - just a note on the reason for the 50min between games. Drawn finals (grades) play 10 min extra time each way, then if scores are still level, sudden death up to 10min. The 50min break was to allow for that scenario. Add that in to the 10min injury time which is...

Freney didn't get one week, he got time served (sent off after 60secs). No suspension at all. Having said that, GPS seem to have attracted the ire of QRU officials over the past few weeks.

    Reds 2014

News from today: if Wade has been offered a training gig with the Reds his manager knows nothing about it.

I was thinking he looked a little more voluptuous in gold than he usually does in red liquor box. Perhaps as a fuller-figured gent the breakfast buffets in camp are calling?

    Brumbies 2013

I don't want ANYTHING about the Brumbies to change - they have a matchday playlist that makes me feel 15 again.

Harry Parker is out for Uni, but Banks - the big, very fast wing/fullback from Premier Colts - is in. No other changes from last week

Tigers Tale I looked at the Premier competition rules as a favour to a mate who is from GPS and as they are written (particularly the punctuation they've used) it is ambiguous. http://www.redsrugby.com.au/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=I0Yw8gNrc4c%3D&tabid=533 I'd say what has upset GPS is that...

Wow. I didn't see that coming. I thought he was struggling to crack Prems at GPS before his injury?

    Shute Shield 2013

Laurie Weeks calls himself Buildcorp's finest because he followed the sponsor & club links to Queensland and played for Queensland Uni (as has Dave McDuling). So Bruce Ross you might say he's still a dedicated Uni man, he just played for a different Uni for a year (winning a premiership there too)

Saw this in the Shute Shield competition thread, written by the inimitable Bruce Ross. Uni has 11 teams playing finals this year, and I think Bruce's post makes some excellent points

It's based on referee assessment of standout players from each game. Teams strong across the park end up getting their votes effectively diluted by each other . It's those teams who go ok, but have a standout player, that often produce the Alec Evans medal.
