Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Re Mitchell, I want to see him in TRC before I determine whether he should by in the squad, let alone the starting side. I have seen barely any Top 14 over the last 2 years and I think it's fair to say he wasn't in anyone's calculations before he "that" game last month. Also, I'd prefer to see...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

hmm. I must have been looking at the wrong figures. In any event, those figures still prove my point. The suggestion that JOC (James O'Connor) has somehow "lost his ability to break tackles" is incorrect. Over his last 4 matches he's broken more tackles than nearly every big name winger (I haven't looked at...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

The Fox Sports stats say JOC (James O'Connor) has made 32 tackle busts in his last 4 matches. That's more than Horne, Tomane, Speight, Savea, etc.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

from what I noticed in 2011, this is a natural occurrence in a world cup year. The more experienced test players tend to keep their powder dry during the Super season. They try to peak later in the year.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Perhaps the most important stats aren't included, being set piece effectiveness. I would expect Simmons, and to a less extent Horwill would be up the top.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

based on those stats, that's probably right. although as we know the stats really only tell half the story. Effectiveness of each involvement is unknown (i.e. quantity doesn't always equal quality). What I do take from those stats though is the following:- - Scott Fardy's stats certainly don't...

I have no idea what Beale is offering the wallabies atm. His support play in broken play is good and he now and then creates something in attack. Everything else is very poor. I can't even recall his last clear line break. he seems to lose the ball in contact / at the ruck more than any other player

I thought JOC (James O'Connor) was pretty good tonight too. Did his chances no harm

Cooper usually looks amazing when his team spends most of the game on the front foot. The RWC will be different conditions so the next few weeks will be a better judge of whether he should be our preferred 10

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

A few observations from the Reds v Force game. - great to see Cooper back and straight into sparkling form. The perfect game for his comeback, because we all know he's a confidence player and that game should give him a lot of confidence going forward. His Goal kicking technique looks...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Carter was/is still in the mix. He'd possibly make TRC squad, depending on whether Cheika already had plans on using him after last year. Based on his play this season though, i think he's unlikely to be selected for the WC. There are more effective workhorses (Jones), there are more...

Yeh Timely cracker from Speight. He's been a bit quiet as of late. A good reminder why most people have him penciled in for a starting spot

Why is Marto employed as a commentator?

yeh the saffa commentators are the most level headed. But they're also the most boring imo

    Brumbies v Bulls - Rd 16, 29 May 2015

I thought Sio was pretty decent in his first game back. His play around the park was very good. His scrummaging was a mixed bag, but to be expected after so much time out facing a strong scrum

nice win from the Brumbies! had to overcome some bad injuries to pull that one out.

Why is Marto employed as a commentator?

Couldn't find the general Commentator thread, so I'll post this here. I'm a big fan of Kafer's commentary/analysis. But am i the only one that get annoyed at how he feels like he has to call out every signal marginal call that goes the way of an Australian team. He seems to feel like it's his...

I would imagine the ARU will. But surely its not a major outlay. They are after all called the Qantas Wallabies.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Not that I'm going to argue that Mitchell isn't a better option than those two (he may be) but I would find it hard to believe that he's already leap-frogged Horne in Cheika's eyes. I could certainly see Cheika putting him in TRC squad and ultimately deciding that he's the best option at 11, but...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Agree re Horne. He looks to be at the peak of his powers atm. His defence is outstanding; he makes dominant tackles which really make life tough for the opposition. His speed and power would be better than AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) these days. He's not the most agile, creative attacking player, but having spent a lot...
