    Where to for Super Rugby?

Depends what you mean by 'viable'. If you mean that wages will be paid at the current level then nothing is viable. At best broadcast rights will be between 25-50% of the current level even if the current Super Rugby concept continues. That hammer is going to fall on the middle level no matter what...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

In terms of the NSW teams I like you idea of affiliation with and interaction between country zones. Manly-Warringah-North could extend up the coastal strip north play a home game at Newcastle and/or Central Coast (Brookvale Oval is about to get a slice of the money not being spent on...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

8 would be the bare minimum, with 9 or 10 slightly better. 8 gives 14 rounds with 2 weeks of finals - 16 weeks. That might fit in quite well with the new global calendar if it goes ahead.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This is what 100% domestic will deliver. Much more difficult to sell private investment if all or part of the competition falls under the jurisdiction of RA and/or NZRU. Governing bodies should be focussed on development at junior community level and the national team. Trying to run...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Depends on whether you're talking about short, medium or long term. The short term sugar hit to get through to BIL 25 is TT. The medium to long term is 100% domestic.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The thing is, I don't think the Kiwis want 5 x Aust teams. I suspect that they want 3 for an 8 team competition and McL is hoping to get 4 in with a bit of negotiation. There's not enough Aust content with 5 teams either. Let's be clear, NZRU is going to to what's in its best interest...

Although he is a favoured RA journo so it could be a preemptive leak to gauge reaction. There was something in the article from McL saying that a TT model might only have 3 or 4 Aust teams.

I'm sure that there are people that know more about the world of high finance than I do, but I assume either the club/franchise in which they invest turns a profit and/or the competition that they are in turns a profit. The Brisbane Broncos for example have an annual revenue of around $40...

Yes, the irony of the kicking emphasis is interesting.

I think that's what is being alluded to.

    Australia domestic rugby 2020

According to Scott Johnson this was something that they considered in their deliberations. Rugby Australia Director of Rugby, Scott Johnson said: “We assembled some of the best minds in the game from a range of different roles to look at adding some new attacking dimensions to the game while...

Incisive response. You might try addressing specific issues rather than attacking people. Score QH 2 - PN 0 :)

Don't know why you feel so threatened by someone with different views. Hope you've read all 12,000 posts, sounds like you might learn something.;)

    NSW AAGPS 2020

The CAS announced way back at the start of Covid that CAS schools wouldn't be playing against GPS or ISA schools. I think all three associations have proceeded on the basis of a 1 round competition and nothing more.

We all expect him to say pretty much what he said. The point being made was that we've essentially heard exactly the same statements before and we'll reserve judgement until we see what actually happens.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

We're an independent country and we should be standing on our own two feet. I agree 100% that any arrangement which ties us to NZRU and allows them to be involved in deciding how we run competitions reduces us to a subservient role. NZRU will natrually put their own self-interest first and...

Castle was thrown under the bus by the good old rugby boys on the RA board. I'm not sure how good she was and we'll never know. What we do know is that the board whose wishes she was carrying out disowned her when she needed support.

I think this means someone from outside the Australian rugby cocoon. Everyone's favourite Carroll while quite capable is the classic Mosman residing Sydney GPS old boy and one doubts that however good his intentions that he'll be able to take on the cronies and vested interests.
