How come the Dammers impact on the transition of that recent colts success into first grade situation which 12 months ago didn’t look so promising, never gets a mention?

I suspect that old mate in the Brothers “medic” bib didn’t exactly encourage him to come off and it took the referee to issue the blue card before he left the field. I would have thought that the Brothers “medic” as a duty of care should have done more than assist him back to the defensive line.

Who wins next weekend? The selection of the extended Wallaby squad will clearly have an impact.

Curiosity - why aren’t all the semis at Ballymore?

Irony of the current points table is that Easts 57 (11 wins), and Wests 55 (9 wins) are two points clear of Brothers 53(10 wins). Wests do have a draw to their name. But again 10 wins generally gets you into the top 4, and that is generally the benchmark across the grades.

The minor premiers get awarded the Horsley Cup (for the year) it’s in the shape of a football. Nice looking trophy.

I think it also fair to say that Bond as minor premiers are favourites to take out the Hospital Cup but it doesn’t always work that way as finals footy is a step up and will sort out the men from the boys. Personally, I think you are just glad that your club is in the top 4 and gives you a shot...

The core of that Easts side has evolved out of their colts - even Wilkin was an Easts Colt 10 years ago. And the premier grade side has been regenerating since the 2020 GF. They are plying their wears with guys that have been at the club for many years - the only one that doesn’t fit that mould...

The front rower who has really stepped up out of QPR is Rhys Van Neck. Pity George Francis didn’t also progress his game out of the 2020 GF when those two went to town with the Uni pack. Which highlights the importance of scrum dominance in finals footy - Bond take note.

What was the go with the previously undefeated Brothers reserve grade side going down to Wests 7-22 on the weekend? Current 2nd grade table 4th Souths 46 points(Rnd 18 v Bond) and 5th Wests 44 (v Snbk). There will be some clubs (Bros, Easts & GPS) cheering for Souths this weekend to avoid...

My recollection is that Sam Talakai played for Brothers going back about 8-10 years. He might have also been captain.

Can Bond secure the minor premiership tomorrow at Yoku Road? Currently the Premier grade table: Bond 59, Easts 57, Wests 54, Bros 48 and GPS 45, Souths 41.

Both GPS & Easts 2nd grade will be hoping for a Wests (Rnd 17) & Easts (18) wins over Brothers and that GPS rather than Brothers make the top 4 in Premier grade.

Further re Phil Mooney’s appointment -despite the obvious success of the First Grade premiership in 2022 - as we speak First Grade and colts 3 are the only sides in the top 4. There are another 3 or 4 grades who sit 5th who still have finals aspirations. The women’s side is out of contention.

All I can say is that Phil Mooney is a champion bloke and the Mooney family have already left an indelible legacy on the Western Districts RFC. I wish him success across all aspects and grades in the club.
