    Wallabies 2024

Shame I actually think Holloway is a very good player. He's just suffered obviously by being in a fairly broken Tahs team this year but has had some good moments. Uru conversely is a similar profile but a bit more versatile and benefited from the Reds playing better overall.

I wouldn't be trying that hard to get Gordon home (Lynagh and HMP are a good 1/2 option) and feel he would be better utilised at the tahs. That said, if QLD is where he wants to be then sure. Unlike others I would take Tupou back. I don't know if JTA can play both sides, but presumably he can...

    Western Force 2025

Surely priority re-signings are Wagner, Rodda, Williams, Anstee, Stewart, O'Donnell, Beale. Strengthening the team with some ex Rebels, maybe Koteka comes back from his ban etc.

    Wallabies 2024

I just think we have to start the season with 3 wins and to hell with any other consideration. The players need it, coaches need it, the fans need it, RA needs it and the game needs it. If I had to select the team based on what seems to be the likely injury return timeframes and Schmidt...

    Wallabies 2024

I think the wallabies actually have so much versatility in the backs this year that very often we'll be in a position where a 6-2 would be advantageous. For example 1. Bell (if his sausage foot is good) or Slipper 2. Faessler 3. AAAA 4. Frost 5. Skelton or LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) 6. Wright 7. McReight 8...

    Waratahs 2024

The tahs will be fine. Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) is a bigger loss than Izzy. With Harry Wilson coming through, Kellaway and Sua'ali'i arriving there will be plenty of options. Alot will depend on where JAS ends up being used. If it's wing or 15 then maybe there is an opportunity for someone like Pietsch to move...

JOC (James O'Connor) back to provide back up for 12-13 and 10 at a pinch from the bench?

    Queensland Reds 2024

One thing that stands out abut the Reds squad is the amount of versatility/flexibility in the backrowers and the backline. Can be a blessing or a curse depending on how it's used, but they'll be able to run a 6-2 pretty easily and I suspect they will do it often. 1. Ravai 2. Faessler 3...

To be honest I hate the white striped sleeves and white shorts. The rich Maroon Jersey with the navy shorts is a great look, and unique in world rugby. It bothers me that we keep trying to innovate away from it (as much as I like canterbury kit generally).

I've always like JOC (James O'Connor) in the centres. The best I've liked him was playing 13 outside Kerevi when he first got back. He may have added something to the Wallabies in that role last year.

The one and only Wallaby Coach thread

High performance Director - Friend (knows Nucifora's Irish system pretty well, and I'm assuming Link and Nuci couldn't be convinced to take it) Wallabies Head Coach - McKellar Forwards and set piece - Lord Laurie (out of retirement for 2 yrs until 2025) Attack - Jim McKay Defense - Toutai Kefu?

You're completely right. We need the rest of our teams to try chase down the Brums who have clearly been the outstanding rugby high performance program in Australia for years. We need another team or 2 to be similarly competitive to start to claw back some interest in Super Rugby.

    Wallabies 2024

You clearly didn't read the post in full properly. I think as a total product for TV it actually improves rugby's appeal. Super Rugby performances and lack of Australian presence in the finals has been a major factor declining Super Rugby viewership and attendances. Plus you have a second 12 round...

    Wallabies 2024

If promotion/relegation can be made workable then I'm all for it. If it can't then I am agnostic about which teams get into super rugby to start I'm on the record as saying back when an attempt was made to cut a team, that the best option was to find some way to merge the operations of the...

Willfully relegating rugby to non professional status in Australia is a bad idea. Call me crazy but trying the utmost to avoid the death of our sport seems a reasonable goal to have (realistic? not sure, but fuck knows we should try). That said, your points about Australian Rugby's unique...

    League Targets

I won't dispute that RA's public chest beating is ridiculous, and they payed overs by a bit for Sua'ali'i but the very large limits of their incompetence don't extend to how things played out in this specific example. Mclennan was chest beating and drumming up publicity at a time when Crichton was...

Having no NRC is better how?

What if we ran a two tiered model for the pro game? Super Rugby Pacific becomes kind of like a champions league type thing for Australia. We consolidate our paticipation to 3 teams max, have our best players playing in it with each other against however many teams NZ want to put in, Drua, Moana...

    League Targets

It wasn't. They were approached, the timing of the story, the figure leaked etc were all from the mananger. RA played a straight bat, offered what they thought was reasonable (which is of course debatable) then walked when it became clear that the manager was trying to inflate his price.

    League Targets

The whole fucking thing was a beat up from Crichton's manager. They made the approach, asked for a certain amount and duration (apparently they wanted an average of 800k/yr for 3-4 yrs) and leaked that this figure was on the table before RA had actually formally tabled their final package. RA...

    RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

The wallabies look like their shape is decent and their defense is committed but they have completely fucked themselves with schoolboy level errors. Hoopers braindead ruck entry from the side, Donaldson flying out and leaving an inside ball channel, a fluffed line out 10m out. This hasn’t got...
