Third should be the aim, but of course the organization should say otherwise. The Reds and Brumbies are far too strong. It is a shame Jake Ball won't be here for a while- feel he is the missing link for hoping for more.

The side will be more cohesive than last season. We had a lot of guys (Lance, Godwin, Kahui, Frisby, etc) who came in at the last moment. A proper pre-season will help. Better squad, more cohesive, better coaching team, hopefully some home games = better performance overall.

My realistic hope is to come third (ahead of the Rebels and Tahs) snd then hope 8 games has sapped Queensland's forward depth.

    Reds 2021

See I see it differently. You need succession planning. Partly to be ready if TT ever departs (reckon French clubs would write him a blank check after the next RWC), in case he gets injured, to manage his workload and keep those developing guys getting bored. Routs like the Reds v Force 2nd...

I'd be interested to see how the Argentineans are used. All could easily be starters. You'd think it would be wiser to start Holmes at tighthead and have Medrano come off the bench. Will be a cracking first up game against the Brumbies. If played at home, I imagine it'll have a 2006 feel to it...

    Reds 2021

I hear what you are saying, Phil, but that extra year of experience across the squad is worth more than one or two big name players. Sure you'd love another solid lock and prop, but you have a bunch of guys who I think will take it to the next level. So many exciting young players.

There was a time not long ago when Kuridrani was our best back. His form has been well down on that recently, but he has the potential to get back there and hasn't lost the attitude. I think he and Naisarani were training together following missing the Wallabies squad. At peak form, I'd still...

You kind of feel that the universe has put things right.

Was he dissing his ex club, though? He said he wasn't happy. That's fair enough. I actually reckon it is better to be straight up about that stuff. Better that then it coming out in other ways. He said there were off-field issues and didn't say much else other than about the shedding of 25% of...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I think that misrepresents Twiggy. I think he makes a lot of concessions on what he wants, but does need to stand firm on a few things to keep the playing field fair. He has said he is willing to invest big money in Australian Rugby but only with constitutional reform. Those reforms are fair and...

Bit disappointing about Montoya, but I figure it would have been a shame if him being here kept our two competent hookers out. Ready finished last season strongly. Hooker for the Wallabies is fairly wide open. Reckon Ready could make a great bench impact option.

I wonder if that spells the end for Montoya.

    Super Rugby AU 2021

Not wanting to put a dampener on things but COVID might make life hard again for some (most likely the Force, maybe others). You'd have to say the Rebels and Tahs squads have weakened, the Reds and Brumbies much the same while the Force are likely to be stronger, more cohesive and with more...

I hadn't seen the other entries- was going from the WF one- have to admit I was surprised when I saw it because I remember commentators talking about him in the domestic U20 games. 9 it is then.

I count 10: Victor Harris, Brad Lacey, Kyle Godwin, Jackson Pugh, Kieran Longbottom, Ollie Callan, Kane Koteka, Ben Grant, Grason Makara, Michael McDonald. 12 if you count Buenos Aires as a suburb of Perth.

Glad if Ben Grant is staying. He is local and still young. Locks are in short supply.

    Brumbies 2021

Harsh call I'd say. The kid is only 23 and is no hope to get game time at the Brumbies. I wouldn't write him off yet- but presumably leaving Aus resets eligibility? EDIT- ignore that last part- for some reason I thought he was born overseas.

    Western Force 2021

I'd select Godwin over Kahui but otherwise, yeah, it's solid. Much stronger than last year and you'd have to say our pack has more depth. You always hope to go top, but the Brumbies squad is too strong methinks. 2nd or 3rd would be great.

Happy with Ball. Shame he isn't Aus eligible. Grest he's a local though. I thought I read he was currently in Perth ergo would be ready for the beginning of the season.
