Pumas v All Blacks, La Plata, September 28 2013

And last year in Wellington, and countless times before that as well. Often happens against the Celtic teams also. Superior fitness and reserves often tells in the end.

Pumas v All Blacks, La Plata, September 28 2013

The Pumas are very often close at halftime against us, but generally it doesn't remain that way in the final 20 minutes. I expect the forwards will have been given a rocket at half time and we will be alright. 4 tries looks optimistic though.

    Springboks v Wallabies, Newlands, September 28 2013

I'm not so sure. He clearly just dived straight on top of the tackled player, which is illegal in itself, and potentially dangerous. The fact that he made contact with his own player first is a mitigation only. I can understand a YC for that. I know that won't be a popular opinion around here.

It should happen occasionally, but for about a 10 minute period there I noticed that Quade was the first one to far too many breakdowns. Regardless, I think there is something seriously wrong with the Wallaby forwards. They hardly ever look to really get stuck in at the breakdowns. They...

    Same tunnel surely. Again.

Another ridiculous turnover caused by a lack of players in the the breakdown.

Quade Cooper is doing an awful lot of clearing out. I guess that is impressive from him but where are the forwards. If I was a Wallaby fan I would be ropeable right now. SA are not playing particularly well, and this game should be a lot closer than it is, but a lack of effort from no.s 1-8...

That's amateur stuff from the Wallabies there. Throw it wide and then turn it over so easily.

A deliberate elbow to the neck/jaw region is a RC in my book - it is about the worst thing you can do as the risk of injury is so high. On the first replay it looked deliberate, but in hindsight it was just reckless.

Yeah fair enough. It always looks worse on slowmo. Definitely a YC though.

    That could be a red.

Because if the ball is caught rather than tapped down then they would be offside, or at least in a very poor position to combat a drive. They seemed to know that it was going to be a tap down rather than a drive.

No that is not correct. Once formed, a ruck ends when the ball leaves the ruck, not when it collapses. A ruck that collapses is still a ruck.

Because the offside line is the ball until the lineout ends. At first I thought it might have been offside, but on the replay it was clear that they were fine.

That should have been a PK not a scrum. Oh well, Garces has made up for it with a scrum PK.

Great tackle from Quade. Shame the ball had already been passed.

Perhaps McKenzie and Meyer could teach their players not to infringe instead.

Pretty good start so far. Excellent defence against that rolling maul.

Ha ha yes we are a bit off topic here. I must say I am a bit worried that there doesn't appear to be much enthusiasm around here for this game. Although I expect a Springbok victory I don't think they are as good as some are making out. This is a potential banana skin game for them. If I am...
