    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Yeah, seems that NZR plan, to say nothing and hope it all goes away, ain't going so well. As Moffett points out, the absence of comment from NZR just means the airwaves are filled with anyone else who wants to throw an opinion out.

Australia v England: Match III, SCG, Sat 16th July 7.55pm AEST

From Eddie's book on leadership, a massive sledge on Australian passion - I suspect he might have done something similar for the third match this year too...

All Blacks tour of South Africa

It's probably in Robertson's best interests to gain some international coaching experience outside NZ before taking the AB job - it would still be a huge jump to go from Super Rugby head coaching (in a well-run organisation) to head coach of the ABs. But if he takes a job outside NZ for 2024...

    Straya A, mate.

What rugby needs to do to get back to its roots and entertain customers.

I disagree. If there's no mark, you encourage teams to put up a bomb that lands within the 22, allow the defender to catch it and then flood through to force a penalty or turnover - an easy (easier) way of gaining possession deep in the 22, no need to try to run the ball into that position. A...

    Wallabies 2023

When will we stop thinking a new coach will be the messiah? We were saying the same things about the Wallabies when they were coached by Robbie Deans. We said the same things when they were coached by Ewen McKenzie. And Michael Cheika. All coaches with excellent resumes. Maybe we need to step...

What rugby needs to do to get back to its roots and entertain customers.

Well, the drinks breaks are actually an attempt to speed the game up, ironically. The last few seasons have seen drinks run on at every stoppage, slowing things down, crowned by Rassie's coaching drinks breaks in the Lions series last year. So, World Rugby decided no drinks on the field except...

Australia v England: Match III, SCG, Sat 16th July 7.55pm AEST

A half of Test Rugby with no cards and no TMO, nice.

    Langi Gleeson. Remember the name.

Yep. A special effort to pick out new Brumbies coach Mat Rogers in the crowd…

    Fiji v Australia A 1:30pm Saturday 9 July

The timing of this match worked out with a family holiday to Fiji: bottom line, if you can find a way to attend a match in Lautoka, do it. It was just brilliant. I'm pretty sure everything's been said already, but as a Tahs supporter, this match looked very good for 2023.

Yes, they're obviously far more invested in rugby now, but you know, long memory.

Are they less concerned this time about clashes with NRL finals? Their effort in 2011 was embarrassing.

And also guided the Australian U20 team to the championship final pre-COVID.

    Sydney Subbies 2022

@Pfitzy , I see pictures of the planned upgrades of your field, as part of the Parra Eels training centre - will you get to use the stands, etc?

    Wallabies 2023

Do we need to rename this thread to "Wallabies 2012-2019 and associated whinging about coaches"?

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

These are all good, pleased to see Stan continuing to try new things. I'd love to see a "wide view" option, which would allow you to see basically the whole field. Probably not something you'd use much live, but really interesting for analysis. The NFL provides this footage as a premium product...

    Wallabies 2023

I find it hard to be so negative at the end of the 2022 Super Rugby season, versus the 2021 season. Perhaps because watching the Tahs became an event again, instead of the equivalent of a dentist's appointment. The Brumbies are good, the Reds really fizzled but have the talent to come back stronger next...

    Waratahs 2023

Yes, Newsome is the type of player every Super Rugby team needs, a solid, experienced player who can slot in at multiple positions as required, and deliver a consistent level of performance. His flexibility over the last couple of seasons has meant other players could establish themselves in a single...

    Wallabies 2023

This has been a consistent comment from those returning this year, and previously. I wonder how much this is a criticism of our current coaching stocks, versus just the inherent benefits of a change of scenery, change of country, etc. Maybe we need to be more accommodating of sabbatical requests...
