I agree 100%. They can only play what is in front of them. Maybe it is a player identification issue. Are the same players that are best in the underage environment, the same that will perform under pressure in the 1sts and 2nds, in the same way players that don't dominate the week-to-week NRL...

this conconnect may be showing that the running up cricket scores for four years may not be the best preparation for the opens. With large wins in the underages, are they ending up with the best "footballers" than can fight it out under pressure in the A's? Or do they end up with the kids that...

In schoolboy sport, always back the choke/ collapse!! Pressure will be too much for Shore, so hopefully Joeys can knock over Riverview to get the joint premiership.

I'm not sure whoever wrote the article has much understanding of how full the calender already is. Isn't touch footy already offered at many schools over summer? The bigger loser may be cricket.

I reckon Shore are favourites to win the cricket this year.

For the last round are there any plans for Shore to roll out a warcry that hasn't been stolen from someone else.

My initial thoughts are: 1. It is now clear who is clogging up the roads. There are many kids playing for clubs along way from where they go to school. 2. The SJRU's measures stop super clubs hasn't really worked. 3. NSWRU needs to re-engage country rugby - only 6 of the players from outside of...

Haha. Based on the fact they had a draw with the Joeys 12ths, maybe they both should be in the 3rds comp. Where do the Joeys 11ths go as they put 70 on High 2nds.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

I wouldn't have thought 6am is prime time viewing time in SA.

Don't all year 11 and 12 kids wear colour coats nowadays?

Why not allow SBHS to be the Combined High Schools team? That could make them competitive, and also give good rugby kids in the CHS system an opportunity.

That makes the current selection philosophy of narrowing the player pool at 14 years old seem even more ridiculous!!! It isn't like they are going to have a kid turn up from completely outside of the rugby (or league) system. How many kids actually start playing rugby at 14? My guess is none...

Competition for spots all the way through at the strong schools makes them stronger at the pointy end. Kids in Joeys As, B's, C's underage teams have to do a fair bit of extra stuff away from school to stay in those teams. The kids that pop out at the end have to be in a better spot than being a...

If RA and club rugby weren't fighting (endless squabbles and mistrust is rugby's biggest issue), then the money goes into Shute Shield and makes that into a strong competition that keeps old players in there to teach and grow the young ones.

The same thing was happening leading up to the 1991 and 1999 world cup wins. Australian Rugby isn't weak because GPS rugby is strong. Although I think the schools could be spending the money more wisely - I would have thought building a great structure to attract good "fee paying" kids is a...
