Yes - that is my whole point, good lord

We must go further. It's Schmidt's fault for selecting Tate.

Yes, sympathy ≠ a free pass. I'm apportioning blame to the two individuals covering the kick - also noting it may be understandable that they both misjudged the ball's flight due to the weather (hence the note of sympathy for Lancaster, who was primarily covering the drop zone), but both should...

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

No one is giving Lancaster a free pass... either one of Lancaster or Wright (both jogging) should have covered that ball or made the tackle. The initial comment you responded to simply agreed with the point that the weather conditions (which, until then, had not been raised), may have been part...

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

Your argument is based on the premise that Lancaster was in clear air. He was not, and it was clear very early on that the take would be contested and, even if Lancaster won the contest, he would soon be tackled and require support.

Let's say Lancaster makes the catch - if no one's running back in support, he's got no one to offload to, no one to support him at the breakdown, and no one onside to chase a clearing kick.

More sympathetic to Lancaster, yes, but I think still should've been covered by Wright and Ikitau regardless - although noting that Wright had to check his run as mentioned previously.

Only just catching up on the game now and this was exactly what it looked like to me - you can see the 'oh shit' moment everyone realises the ball's changed trajectory

Not personally at all, just calling out the hubris as demonstrated above. We all know opinions are like arseholes in that everyone has one and they all stink - except one's own of course ;)

Oh wise Yoda, we are so fortunate to be sharing our time on this little blue dot with your all-knowing and infallible being.

Nasser and Blyth - notable players of “club rugby” standard, who have 31 and 59 Super caps respectively.

Pretty impressive of Faessler to play 125min across the two Wales tests without being in the squad.

    Reds v Wales, Suncorp Stadium - 19/7

I should've noted that I thought his showings throughout the season were, for the most part, a step-up too - particularly in comparison to Kalani's second half of the season.

Nothing worse than any other frustrated halfback in my eyes. Be interesting to see whether he's the preferred #21 next year - I reckon he's done enough to leap Kalani.

Ah fair enough - agree Ryan wasn't poor, but just could tell he couldn't get in the game like he wanted to. Watching from home I actually thought Aubrey had a pretty strong showing. A couple of defensive misreads, but apart from that he seemed pretty involved and did his job without much ball...

    Reds v Wales, Suncorp Stadium - 19/7

Yeah it was a bit of a shame - Ryan by no means had a bad showing, but you could tell he couldn't play his natural game and needed more space. Props to him for stepping into 13 when we were short on other options though.

Canham, Asiata, Pakeho, Werchon, Aubrey, even JOC (James O'Connor)... so good to see so many step up.

What a game. Apart from the 5min after half time, that would be close to the best the Reds have played all year.
