The many advantages of such a massive boarding program.

Ahhhhh the infamous bored schoool kid. Barker was missing a Prop, their Hooker, their 6/centre, their Halfback, a Centre, their Fullback, and a Winger... and then a boy who played injured and came off after the first 2 minutes... Move along boys

Yes, I was more comparing Joeys to Barker, who has closer to 300 in each grade, almost half of which being girls.

Not every school has 400 boys in every grade, so you can't hold every school to the same standard as Joeys. I have no problem with scholarships. These elite rugby schools are more than just rugby development nurseries. They educate. They develop character. They build men. If a boy has...

As for why Isaiya Katoa stood at 15, the regular fullback has been out since Oakhill but is back soon, and the winger that they had playing 15 against Scots for the first 2 minutes got injured as well. He was pushed to play by the coaching staff due to a ridiculous amount of injuries already...

I agree to some extent. However, I think what these players do is advertise these school's rugby programs, which I think will lead to more talented players being channelled through some of these top schools. For example, I believe 9 news did a piece on Sua'ali'i and Penisini last week in the lead...

Agreed. Tight indeed. That Joey's 15 is a special player. Extremely elusive, and makes defenders look silly, and I've seen him on multiple occasions create a try from absolutely nothing. A kid that is talented is rare. For me though, whilst I think it's extremely close, Isaiya Katoa is a freak...

Hello Dave, At this current moment in time, I would put Joeys over Scots. Keep in mind during the Barker vs Scots game there were 8 out of the 15 regular 1stXV players not playing (injury/illness). It really wasn't the same Barker calibre team that Joey's had to face. Joey's impressed me vs a...

This may be a bit early, but what is everyone's predictions for 1XV and 16a's?

"Suffered AN horrific"... Clearly the grammar of a child, didn't believe it for a second.

I second this, sounds potentially entertaining.

Katoa is not on an NRL contract. He even quit SG Ball for Penrith in order to fully commit to union. Like I previously stated in the GPS forum, all reports say that union is his first choice. So the answer to your question is Katoa will be eligible for selection, and will be in that CAS 1st XV.

Katoa is a Penrith Panther boy. Captained their SG Ball team this year. However, gave up rugby league halfway through the season, I'm told he prefers the real rugby, and his loyalties lie with Union. I mean he gave up captaincy at Penrith to play for Barker. That's huge for rugby union. His...

Pure elitism. The epitome of pigheaded arrogance. Laughable really. I too would advise you to "play nice."

Not a student. Nor did I say Barker is at the level of Joeys, or a rugby powerhouse, or that Barker would ever reach that level. In fact, I think I explicitly stated that the two were not comparable. None of these straw man arguments please. This isn't even the point anyways. My point was, there...

Actually I believe of the last 3 Joeys vs Barker 1st XV match ups, Barker have won 2 of those 3. Additionally the one they lost in 2019, there was about a try difference ? After an extremely slow start from Barker. And that was without a capable front row due to injury (which I admit is pretty...

That's fine Joker. I understand that you're salty. Being a Joey's boy you're probably not used to losing, being such a historically dominant powerhouse. Times are changing though. As you said before, "stay in your lane."

I just don't see an issue with it at all. As long as the video is made in good faith, not with the intent to tear other schools/boys down, I see it as a good way of promoting schoolboy footy to a wider community. I also do not think the video was made to self-aggrandise Barker at all. Just some...

    NSW AAGPS 2021

It's almost like a highlight video made by an ex Barker boy would be made with the intention to showcase the best of Barker's play from that game. I mean they are 'highlights' after all. They're not made with any malice intent, and they're not made to rub it in Joey's face or anything of that...

Ahhhhhh. Once again Joker. Bending my words to undermine my opinion. Not once did I ever say that the CAS is historically better than the GPS. That would be crazy. What I said was, Barker, Waverley and Knox (less so Knox) as of recently have been just as good as the top GPS schools. Don't bend...
