    Waratahs 2024

Someone needs to decide who trains to be 12 and who trains for 13. The two roles are very different. This should be the last time Tuipolotu and Walton swap around. Coaches should already know from last year who suits the roles best - what they need to do is play together in their best positions...

For a prop he's just hitting his peak!

    Wallabies 2024

Bell, Skelton and Nawaqanitawase were three who did look pretty good. But Bell and Skelton missed most of the RWC with injury.

    Wallabies 2024

Maybe the fact that he looks better in Brumby colours has something to do with the Brumbies being well coached with a coherent game plan. Anyone looking good for the Wallabies this year was an accident of happenstance.

    Wallabies 2024

That you McLennan? Its the sort of dopey rewrite of history he'd want to try. The question was not "which world class 10 could we select?", it was "Who is the best Australian 10 available?" Cooper, Foley and Gordon were probably the best performed, though the pool to choose from was weak. Over...

    Waratahs 2024

I agree on McCrae (5). He picked up a very important lineout steal with the Pasifica boys hot on attack inside the 22 in the second half. I want to clarify my comment on Durbridge. I thought he had an OK to good game without being a total standout. He's pretty young so worth watching out for.

    Waratahs 2024

I was making notes as I went and looking for Durbridge (who was listed as a 6, not 7) because of previous forum comments. Nothing spectacular, he had one excellent run in the second half that came to nothing because of an intercept. I didn't notice anything else except that his binding in a...

    Waratahs 2024

Watched it live, didn't know it was going to be streamed and I'm only 20 mins away. Live it seemed both teams were pretty committed, contact was heavy. It was an early trial designed to help the coaching staff look at work-ons for the fringe players and they'll have a long list. Without overly...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Do you really think any woman would even apply after the job the blazers did on Raelene? Never in a million years!

    Waratahs 2024

Are you an up-and-coming rugby youngster but haven't got an agent yet? You need to move heaven and earth to get onto Nawaqanitawase's agent's books as soon as you can. Bloke is a certified genius at putting pressure on RA to get a better deal.

    Waratahs 2024

Without trying to shitcan one of my favourite players, it should also be pointed out that until he matured into the player he is about 18 months ago, he was an absolute nightmare defensively. In the year that the Tahs lost every game, all the other teams had to do was to run at him and a try was...

Do you really trust Hammer to get it right? Based on what, his terrific record over the last 12 months? The earlier you can cut the cancer out the more likely it won't have spread too far.

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

This was the point of my post, which must have been lost in translation. NSW lost for just one reason. When they had clear dominance they were unable to score, despite getting over the tryline five times. Not the first good team to experience this phenomenon. That's what I meant by a lack of...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

If you say so. Winners get to write the history. What the Waratahs actually lacked was the rugby nous to score when they were dominant. For long periods in the game they were on top everywhere but the scoreboard.

Seen a few senior managers in my work life who were totally incompetent. Virtually all of them used used the following strategy: Never admit fault. Keep telling everyone ad nauseum that you did the right thing and the strategic path you took was the best and only possible one. Repeat this...

    Wallabies 2024

Without trying to belittle the need to improve the pack, a good halfback can still look good when the pack is getting beaten up. Exhibit 1: Ken Catchpole played behind beaten packs for much of his career but still looked great. His ability to clean up shit ball and hit his 10 with it accurately...

Wales v Barbarians Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

So what the hell is Angus Bell doing playing like a crash-ball 12? He should get a six week suspension for that from the front rowers judiciary. Derpus, There's a GIF on the SMH website that should be on permanent rewind somewhere.

The one and only Wallaby Coach thread

This discussion is pointless. McLennan will make the decision on who will coach next, just like he did last time. He has an ego as big or bigger than Jones (Alan or Eddie, take your pick). That means he is genuinely the best placed person to choose; in his mind anyway. So all other opinions are...

    RWC: Pool C - Wallabies v Fiji - Monday 18 Sep 2am AEST

Perhaps the fact that with all their possession Fiji scored only one try, and that was an opportunistic one not a full-blooded end to end ten hands one, indicates that they were perhaps not as fit as everyone thinks. Personally I think the result was 99% our gameplan and selections and 1%...
