    NSW AAGPS 2024

Yeah, not sure why that is...strangely, I don't see too many CAS schools offering GPS students scholarships ;-) mmmmm?

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Ok brains trust - I thought I understood all of this pretty well...and even agreed with one of the members here who pointed out that several players were overlooked for selection at the recent NSW Schools Selection Trials because of their existing links and commitment to Rugby League. Then I...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

fair point - looks like you are already there. Doesn't look so bad after all.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Agree - bit of a grudge match too - with NSW keen to prove they are not 2nd ;-)

Australian Schools Rugby Union - ASRU. Just be careful which one you contact..most of the posts on Facebook right now are from a fraudulent group ;-) Unless of course you want to join the dark side...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

On another related/un-related point...who is following the ASRU organisation on Facebook. it appears there are scammers and fakes all over it. I received around 10 invites to join on Facebook etc The latest is the promotion from Skysportes (promoting an affiliation with RugbyTV). How does...

Lol - everyone said that last year about Scots this year. Whoops. Too far out to predict any semblance of success mate...but I guess we can have fun predicting ;-)

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Agree, mostly. And mate, anyone who lives in a capital city on the Eastern seaboard who earns < $150k p.a. is a volunteer ;-)

Sweet - I think you and I are pretty much aligned!

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Kinda - I like your thunking. Talent identification and realisation is a little more complex than that these days - and very well understood across many sporting codes around the world. There are already a set of physical tests conducted for the Academy lads, including strength, speed...

Thats' not bias at all - its a great story, and credit to your young man and your family. Sadly, this is a very rare story that will potentially become even less common without a rethink and some changes.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Very true - selectors/selection process sounds so easy ;-). There is never a situation where everyone is happy. However, the real challenge with Junior sport is development and identifying future potential v current capability. If the match is played right now, then current capability is the...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Players of national interest is national mate - of the current 25, nsw are between 7-12. Gut feel is that the final 40 will be around 40-50% nsw, 30-40% from qld. 10-15% from act and rest from vic, wa typically. Keep in mind, this list will also come from players outside of school programs...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Thanks for this - well understood. The one para I am curious how everyone feels is this "For the likes of Makasini, Rodwell, Bassingswaite. Because of their tight affiliation with league clubs, they will participate in no further REP rugby." Strangely, they were all allowed to trial for CIS...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Yeah, its interesting - I can spend a lot of time dong this analysis ;-) - it is partly my day job too. This one is interesting also...if we look at the sprint and the long jump/triple jumps as the basis of good athletic potential (I don't want to over simplify this), then lets see how the High...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

This is a great analysis - and a pretty good reality check. To your point however - a lot has changed: - 1980, 22% of students were enrolled in private schools, 78% were enrolled in public schools - 2023 36% of students in Australia attended private schools, while 64% attend public schools...

Good (indy school) Joeys boys (most of 'em) ;-). Although the mud crab sounds like he could have been a high school boy in another time?

    NSW AAGPS 2024

No real surprises here…Agree that Joeys is a good 16s group - and a few of them already playing opens. On past form, Joeys, New and Shore the benchmark 16s. This is what is so frustrating - the class of athletes playing this game across the Indy schools is ridiculously high - how does it not...
