i believe that tax break has been removed and is no longer the case.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Regarding the matter of the alliance agreement - I'll be surprised if it holds up. The broadcasters will likely be required to sign a new broadcast agreement given there is a material change to the previous one (number of games and teams etc). All we know is they have said they will provide the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

100% agree. On what basis were they excluded from the cull? Can anyone provide a rational reason for them not being culled that excludes "they won two championships a long time ago or larkham played there"? Have the rebels/brumbies play two games a year there. Pre season there and throw Canberra...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Very unfortunate. Well all we can hope is that the force or rebels players get picked up by the balance of super rugby teams and Japan scoops a couple up to ensure this talent is not lost (to say nothing of the future generations...) On the plus side. The format going forward is more manageable.

Ha. Same. That makes sense to me

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Can we not split into then3x 6 team conferences with home and away series. Those 10 games then determine the rankings for a Heineken cup style tournament - 2x4 teams and 2x5 team pools (not ideal). Then pool play with top two teams progressing to championship tournament and bottom 2/3...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I think the only way pulver keeps his job is if the outcome of negotiations is for a reduction of south african teams four and cut the japanese team with australian teams having an increased allowance to sign foreign players - specifically japanese players to help grow the japanese game. i...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think 5 teams is the best way forward with south africa losing two and japan exiting. Australian teams given an allowance to sign japanese players as well as an overall increase in foreign quotas. japan team is truely woeful and they aren't there yet. better path would have been to get...

    Round 6: Waratahs v Crusaders - Sunday 2 April 2017 4pm

The difference between anz and aus is - as Mick byrne saison in the Australian this weekend - skill level and knowledge in unstructured play. As soon as the offense goes unstructured and based on "playing what's in front of you" ( a common kiwi adage that RD was wrongly derided for advocating)...

    Round 6: Waratahs v Crusaders - Sunday 2 April 2017 4pm

Clark I can stand. Horan not awful. Kearns is terrible. Martin is as biased as the days is long and Maloney is just laden with superlatives and nothing commentary. At least Bruce mcevany who loves a superlative can tell an articulate and compelling story. I was watching a fair bit of the euro...

    Round 6: Waratahs v Crusaders - Sunday 2 April 2017 4pm

Why did Kearns just comment about wingers' weight in stones? Wouldn't surprise me if people turned off super rugby due to his, Maloney and martins commentating.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

nothing about the above prevents the RC from happening as well. the current super rugby format is helping the NH teams close the gap.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

i personally agree that aus can't sustain 5 teams with its own players and that if they want to keep 5 teams, some form of foreign player accommodation has to be made, beyond the current allowance. i.e if japan were to be cut (along with two south african teams) then allow japanese players to be...

Round 6: Highlanders v Rebels, Fri 31st Mar

tuned in 10 minutes ago and this looks pretty bad. i find it very hard to believe that at least an element of this is not directly attributable to the lack of clarity on the future of australian super rugby. this will be a very poor year for aus super rugby regardless of outcomes. this start...

Pumas vs Wallabies - Sunday 9th October @ Twickenham

I'm closing in on preferring cooper but he's not there yet for me. Still a bit too much of a liability tho much improved on his past. Foley is just steady. His kicking game is atrocious and I think if he were to partner with a more developed hodge at 12 who could take the kicking pressure off...

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

I think hodge is a 12 but shouldn't be rushed there. Start him on the wing until some of our pure wingers are available and shift him to 12 for foley with 20 minutes left. Alternatively start him on the bench and ease him into 12. It is a high pressure position and he has one year of super...

    Rebels 2016

not much of a stint.... i'm not sure we have the centres for Cooper. ellison would have been great alongside him but he's gone after this season correct. i think you need a slightly more creative centre than inman for cooper to unleash. a shame we are losing harris as he would have been...

Wallabies v England in Melbourne, 18 June

i rate him highly. he is a gun player. great pace, excellent with the boot in attack and defense. any defensive questions he may have are best suited to the wing and i think he's competent enough under the high ball. he runs great lines. injuries have cost him a number of tests IMO. very...
