Don't worry everyone, we have some squad news... McReight to miss the first half of the tournament: https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/07/30/exclusive-wallabies-gun-to-miss-start-of-trc-against-springboks-as-11th-debutant-expected/ Schmidt looking for a new openside...

    Wallabies 2024

Right now the Australian rugby news sites are dominated by stories of our Women’s 7’s team… Obviously a squad announcement and the press that surrounds that to promote it is competing for headlines.

    Wallabies 2024

It was reported in the Nine papers on July 21 that the squad would be announced in about "two weeks"... That would seem to align up with the squad being announced likely later this week after the 7's is completed. I assume they don't want to take any attention away from our women's efforts.

    Aussie Player Exodus

I think we all read it the same way, but essentially the only other two available hookers picked in the squad were originally selected ahead of him... and one of those didn't perform as well as Nasser. So saying he didn't deserve his Wallabies cap is just complete bullshit.

And the majority of their squad are still actually playing for SA teams, with a handful of guys in Japan.

    Wallabies 2024

I can't imagine either LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) or Uru will be playing 6... LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is far better suited to playing lock, and Uru doesn't seem to be in favour... although that might changes with injuries to Wright and Leota, but I'd say there's others in the squad already ahead of him.

    Wallabies 2024

The team would definitely be stronger with his inclusion, but you'd feel more comfortable if there was another strong lineout option in the backrow starting with him which is the luxury he has in France... and Eddie played Tom Hooper at 6 or 7 last year. But you'd be hesitant to change last...

    Wallabies 2024

I had a similar thought... If we roll out the same backrow as the last test we can't start Skelton, and I wouldn't expect Schmidt to anyways for the next test if Skelton does commit... So something along the lines of: 4. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) 5. Frost 6. Valetini 7. McReight 8. Wilson 19. Skelton 20. Cale /...
