Wallabies v England November 1

Strewthcobber

Phil Kearns (64)
Probably right. Harsher post comfortable defeat always happens.

Just a side that pose little threat. 130 carries to Aus, 98 England but 230 post contact meters to Aus and 251 to England.

Lord Laurie’s defence made 108 tackles with 18 misses and England make 189 with 13 misses.
Obviously this is a simplification, but the interesting thing is none of the points today came from carries or post contact metres or missed tackles.

Every England point was directly from a kick, or from a penalty/lineout maul, while Australia's only score was directly off a turnover.

Jorgo. Our best and fastest attacking threat did not get the ball off one play. That's a poor game plan. Our only try scored by the Potts off an interception. As good as we were to be in the hunt for a lot of the match we have to score tries. That is all.

One thing that irked me was about the 65th minute and he wanted to check who the ball game off into touch - JAS touched it first, then it came clearly off the English player and into touch. Like very obviously, and then he said it came off JAS as originally ruled. It made no difference to the outcome at all but why bother checking??

Unless something changes, Kiss who I don’t expect miracles from but we hoped he just take over a humming side could instead be taking over a side who have lost 6 of their last 7 with the sole win being Japan by 4.

It is simple but they don’t do the simple things well. Throw in the inability to take a high ball and you can just play the Wallabies calmly and let them make enough errors you will be presented with scoring positions.

I don’t think Schmidt has the faith in Edmed/Stewart/Paisami to implement the actual game plan against the top sides so is saving that until we can get our players back. Played a very conservative game off the 9 tonight.

Can anyone clarify Pollock's try ? I didn't think you were allowed to crawl regardless of being held in a tackle

Where's the beef

Result was a fair indication of the game. We were well beaten up front and did not hit the line in motion. The intercept was a 14 point swing.

We tried hard, but, I dont think england were worried at all. For this narrow game plan to work we need to be hitting the line very hard from depth and fast. Very little of that today.

Gordon and edmed did their best going backwards.

Just finished the game. Thought it was interesting that it took til like the 78min to start penalising England for offside. Find it staggering that they could be that accurate for nearly the whole game with rush d they employ

They were just alot more aggressive at the breakdown. That gave ford so much time he could have had a cup of tea and then kicked before anyone touched him. You get the benefit of the offside line because you are moving forward.

Upthemaroon!

I mean there were three England players around him at that time.
And then Paisami got penalized for doing the same thing in our own 22
