Brumbies 2025

Brumby Runner

Jason Little (69)
Austin Anderson was apparently in the frame as the backup No 10 to Declan Meredith but suffered a broken jaw this past weekend in the JID Cup game. Maybe Chase Oates? Pretty sure he played half a game for the Runners at 10 and looked quite promising although still very young.

There’s an experienced flyhalf in the Brumbies organisation who still looks pretty fit

that would be a big step up from wests 4th grade

in all seriousness though surely they just call a local in to train in case Meredith goes down.

I suspect Wright or Creighton would be the current backups if anything happens in game.

Jack Deb should be back for finals and here's hoping Noah is too

Back for the Crusaders all being well

He’s done a calf strain.
That is bonehead stuff from the brumbies coaching staff. Reports calf awareness at half time, no one thinks to rest him. Stupid

Did you even watch the telecast? It wasn't anything like that. He actually went down about halfway through the first half. He played the rest of the half and said he was fine and wanted to keep playing. They thought it was cramp. If anything 7A's was the one who pushed it. Hardly a coaching issue, you do the best with the information on hand.

My understanding is he reported tightness at half time. That's calf awareness. The fact he reported should have been enough to not send him out for the 2nd half. It could've been cramp but the safe option would be not to risk it. It's a stuff up by the trainers imo.

inside knowledge or a narrative that suits?

If we didn't play players who are sore at halftime there wouldn't be any players on the pitch

Or following the reported timeline of events? (admittedly it was Doran's version)
1. He was seen to be sore as they went to half time
2. Reported that his calf felt tight at half time (hoped it was just cramp)
3. Came off with a sore calf
4. Torn calf
Now, perhaps it was torn originally and didn't get any worse. Perhaps the medical staff thought that. Even without knowing all the ins and outs of calf injures that seems odd.

Yeah, but you don't risk Wallabies players in super rugby games that aren't finals.
When McReight tweaked his shoulder I was all for "lets get him off the park!", which they did.

All seems very unfortunate and I reckon a few glances would have gone around the coaches box and the sideline when he was being assisted from the field following any level of lower limb complaint at half time.

Players can be tough tough for their own good and could be completely coincidental but it obviously comes across as a bit of fuck up.

Yeah, If this was a must win game, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But seems like a stuff up, with ramifications for the Brumbs and also the Wallabies.
