Wallaby Coach after Joe

Who will be the Wallaby coach for the EOYT and the RWC?

As much as I hate the phrase, this seems to be a Win Win...

Continuity for the Wallabies and the Reds, with time to work out the best assistant coaches for the Wallabies and the new Reds coach for 2027.

Quite refreshing after all the coach selection process debacles since Link walked away

Not to mention that Schmidt has been going great, especially giving the EJ (Eddie Jones) nadir where he started.

At this point surely Schmidt should just stay on til the World Cup. He’s extended his self imposed deadline twice and has taken numerous jobs since leaving the Irish job for the same reasons that he left the Wallabies job

Not a long run in for a rookie international coach into a World Cup for Kiss. Hope for the best but will be a huge learning curve for the guy (despite the fact people seem to think he’s a Joe Schmidt clone)

There is that whole thing about his son needing medical care.

Smart arse comments aside this seems a bloody good outcome to me.
Im aware of his son's condition and I was being dead serious.

I know he wont stay on but it only being another 12 odd months makes you wish he would

Not to be that guy, but I did post back in mid-2024 that my RA moles told me Kiss would be inserted into the Wallabies coaching group for the BIL tour in a shadow role and transfer to HC over time.

And some of you muppets called me out on it! Well suck my nuts boys, Phil knows all.
But is that what has happened?

The ‘orderly transfer from Schmidt to Kiss’ will happen between the Lions tour in July and the 2027 Rugby World Cup.

That is an excerpt from the official article released by RA. Take from that what you want but based on what I heard previously and the announcement, I read that as Kiss will be around the Wallabies setup from now where it doesn't clash with any Reds commitments.

Even then, I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the Reds assistants (Zane Hilton most likely) leading their next pre-season program with a similar transition plan in mind.

Best result for all. Our franchises need to grow some HCs over bringing them in/back from elsewhere. I get the desire for a proven name but we've seen this Wallaby search really be bare and lucky with Kiss tbh.

I know it's hard with four sides but say if Larkham left the Brums at the end of next year (hypothetical) I'd prefer a guy like Mowen or Palmer get the job and we grow the pool of Australian pro HCs.

Kiss has zero involvement with the Wallabies during the Lions Tour from what I can see.

I'll eat my hat if Les Kiss isn't in the coaching box or around the camp during the BIL tour.

I find it strangely specific that the rugby dot com article would specifically call out a transfer of coaching starting from the Lions tour if that didn't mean Kiss would be around the Wallabies in some capacity from that point. In any industry, a transfer of a role means someone is on the job learning from their predecessor.

Suck your own nuts while you're at it.
