I think all the Oates lads have moved over to Easts - Kye and Chace as well as BJ. BJ was in the Brumbies program so expect he was approached by Ben Mowen.
Kye is on a train and trial with ACT and Chace is similar but could be their First Nations contract with both brothers have got in the past

Would be interesting why he was at UQ for about 4-5 years I think and there was another brother I believe who used to run around aswell.

BJ is the other brother, plays outside backs similar to Kye, think he and Kye have spent a fair bit of time in 7s as well

Yeh it is an interesting topic Pfitzy because I've been around quite a few league clubs, both NRL level and QCup over the past few years due to work sponsorships and other events and honestly all the people who work at them are lovely and all the players I've met and interacted with have been genuinely good people who are just as passionate about their club colours as we are about ours. Having nice facilities also helps.

But then when you take a look at their fans and the clientele coming to the clubs, it becomes obvious why league in general gets a pretty bad wrap in terms of the type of people they attract.

I doubt even the most private school and rich boy club would maintain it's 'charm' if they switched the pokie lights on.
I'd add that part of said charm is that most have careers they're invested in. No one with something to lose is going to threaten to stab you in the car park over a mistimed tackle or hard ruck cleanout.

We're about a month away from trial matches at this stage. I’ve had a flick through the social media pages of the clubs and thought a few were interesting for this time of year:
  • Eastwood vs Norths (QLD) - 1 March
  • Brothers vs Easts (NSW) - 8 March, Australian Club championship
  • Reds Academy vs Sunnybank - 9 March
Aus club championship will be great viewing down at Crosby, but the most interesting for me is the academy hit out at the Bank - bit of a coup.

Pretty similar positions on the table for both last season, how has Norths been going this offseason?
Looking pretty good. Currently sitting 5th

Reds Academy/Development team played club sides last year too. They play Wests first in 2 weeks, Brothers also and probably one other as well, usually around 4 games I think

Does anyone know the players in the reds development squad and the club they play for?

I imagine team lists will be posted before they play each week, but it is made up from the Reds Academy and any top squad member who is outside the top playing 23/25 that week, that they want to get game time for. It fills the gap between when Super Rugby starts and the club season, so players can get meaningful game time incase early season injury and good exposure for players and something different for clubs to play against. Fairly good representation from most clubs I think, in terms of where players come from

I appreciate this forum is full of rugby nuffies and the chat can be average at the best of times (I include myself in this) - but claiming a poster is a the dad/ cousin/ coach/ club president of someone because you disagree with their points is about as bottom shelf and lazy as it gets.

100 percent agree its low hanging fruit and will turns these types of forums into echo chambers
