Rugby Championship 2025: Wallabies v Argentina

The commentary team were really looking out for him yesterday — his missed tackle somehow got pinned on the ACT back rower by the Queenslander commentator.
Australian rugby commentators have been a self serving & myopic for a long time now. I don't know of another country who's pundits have a more prejudice view of players from their own country.

It's embarrassing frankly.

Blowing up about commentators - the mouthpieces and ultimately ambassadors of the game - not being as incredulously negative towards players - people, who they often know personally - as a bunch of anonymous corner-dwellers on the internet is, frankly, the embarrassing part.

Unsure why Tom is being singled out for this game.

Almost every Wallaby player did some good things but also countered it with doing something equally poor ie dropped balls, penalties or didnt execute something.

For the two set piece tries it looked like we didn't work hard enough; Valetini didn't get off the scrum fast enough on the first and White wasn't able to track the 9 off the scrum for the second try. This created overloads.

Biggest problem was the gifting of field position and ball through all the penalties in the first half. Meant we couldn't put pressure on the argies like we did in teh second half.
he was terrible. admit it.

The Lynagh comments in here are getting a bit much… 'Noah got criticised on so lets pick on the next young fly-half as well'... shit i dont blame young blokes like Lucas and Greene for taking contracts in japan at this rate. Wallabies won the game you sour bastards, how about some positives.

@Yoda I think we can put to rest your claims he doesn’t receive criticism eh….

In all seriousness, what good things did Tom Lynagh do?

Man, I watched the game in replay (and read the comments on here on replay as well), and it seems while some criticism of Lynagh is justified, during the game a lynch mob led by Marce piled on and some have since left the chat (or at least returned to lurking) having started this dumpster fire of a conversation. This Lynch mob seemed to have forgotten the rest of the teams performance in that dire first half.

Positives from the game: the belief Harry and the team had to go for the win at the death rather than a draw, JAS seems to be gelling now with Ikitau - give him a bit longer and he'll be outstanding (I'm happy to stand on that and fall on it if goes the other way), the forwards seemed to find a way with no Skelton
Negatives: pedantic reffing from Williams, porous defence in the first half - the Wobs don't seem to like a half time lead or something, but we can't keep chasing scores and win.

I will say though, Arentina's two tries didn't really come from long periods of sustained pressure but from two set plays in the Argies half (or nearabouts). So on that, it seems there is some starch in the in-close defence is ok, but out wide not so much.

+High ball take in the first half.
+Tackle into touch 2nd half.
+ 2/2 off the tee.
- Missed kick for touch.
- Missed tackle for their first try.
*almost a 50-22 in the 2nd half

He was otherwise ok.
The 50-22 was unlucky, not sure if he saw the Argie back lurking in the sun, but it was close.

I'd say his general lack of confidence and what looked like confusion in understanding where he was meant to be was a huge reason the 1st half looked as bad as it did. So often he just looks around for someone else to organize and gets caught going into far too many rucks which completely removes him from the game. Your 10 just cant be such a passenger

I'm not saying give up on him, but I genuinely don't think he's ready for this level yet. And he doesn't have any great athletic gifts to fall back on that can save a lot of young guys that aren't really in control
