QLD Premier Rugby 2025

I don't think QPR has anywhere near the same issue with foreign players as Shute Shield does, so I can't see them going this route anytime soon.

There's still room to further explore a formal points system though, but I don't think it'd have quite the talent distribution effect people expect.

Would be interesting to see - Bond Uni I assume would be pretty solid in that instance with Nongorr, Blake, Blyth all through their system, Souths would have a young group exempted in King, Bryant, Mackay, Rubens - wonder whether Wests might lose someone like HMP back to Souths if the rules applied. Easts similarly have a couple of young exemptions with Craig, Bloomfield and Goldsborough, supplemented by Wright.

It’s interesting that Brothers & Easts probably have the highest percentage of juniors & colts in their Prem sides this year and they finished 1&2 in H&A.

Which club's in the QPR best foster home grown talent?

As Phil said, it’s brothers.

Although a lot to be left desired about this years brothers colts programs. the depth of gravy train down at Crosby road took a beating this year if your colts program is taking home the wooden spoon.

Imagine it’s a 1 season anomaly and they’ll throw the kitchen sink at getting brothers colts back in the mixer

Talking to my Filth friends and a few ‘higher ups’ this week and they sprouted the usual stuff about their colts program which they’ve been telling me for a while.

Essentially attracting too many guys who think they’ll just slot into the Brothers winning culture and don’t want to put the effort in. That and the Rohrig program being a bit too exclusive which has pushed out a few guys who wanted more opportunities.

Personally I think the schoolboy talent coming through in general just isn’t as high a quality as across the board.

So out of the 4 finalists. 3 of the 4 are in the 2nd grade final and the one that didn't make it was in the mix until the last round.
Depth IS extremely important.
Asks Souths how that lack of depth has helped them… one of the healthiest stocks of all clubs at the end of 2022, with a legitimate colts pipe line and plan…. Now 3 years of mistakes later - as @warhorse said “Catastrophic”

This js a quick list of players go exit to other clubs in the last 3 seasons - Catastrophic

Theo Fourie
Liam Fletcher
Henry Smith
Bas Hannah
Reece Meise
Ty James
Riley Kerr
Jake Morrison
Sam Von Blackensee
Hugo Smith
Caleb Brown
Mone Mafi
Saipele Tamilo
Ben Murphy
HMP
Dom Thygessen
Jakob Job
Harrison Angel
Will Nason
Dre DeLybn Cruse
Riley Brereton
Saxon Warwick
Slater Galloway
Copper Hoare
Te Ohorei Totorewa

There are more that don’t come to mind, but haven’t included coaching staff as well that were exited or left.

Hopefully questions start to get asked this off season!
Highly doubtful with the current on and off field hierarchy.

You could put together a very competitive premier grade team with this lot. It will be interesting to see how many of the current team will be there next season.

That is a great question… from the reports out of the current playing group, there will be more losses unless there is significant changes of the current decision making on the rugby field and inside the club.

Unfortunately, all is not well & hasn’t been for a while now as much as some “Souths People” will tell you otherwise.

Wests have navosailagi, Droasese, Zaupa, both Vaihu’s, Baguio Johnson-Tuimalu and Keynan Tauakipulu playing 1st grade this weekend who all played colts at wests… HMP was also a junior so I would imagine that would count as well.
