NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

For the pedants on here, the GPS 1st XV Table above is wrong. They have the correct Points but have stuffed up the F&A for Newington, Kings and Scots. Kings are in fact above Newington on F&A.

and stopped the calls from the not-worthy CAS / IAS schools calling for a 'super' comp
Notwithstanding that in a year that CAS beat GPS and IAS was very competitive would have loved to have seen a Barker v Riverview game.

Barker went undefeated in Australia (including pre-season against Canberra, Joeys and Shore) and today's Barker v St. Augustines game (effectively the CAS/ISA decider) was a great watch (on replay on NSW RugbyTV)

(I say in Australia as Barker did lose games at the Japanese Sanix tournament in the holidays)

Shore class of 2028 really went 9-1 in 2023, now 3-2-2.
They have had an incredible amount of injuries. Both second rowers, tighthead prop, number 8 and two wingers

Plus, they should not have lost to Riverview yesterday. By all accounts the winning try was scored off a rolling maul which was held up.

Not to mention, they have played Joeys (the best team) 3 times and it has been highly competitive each time.

The U15 age group has been a mess with absences due to Glengarry and similar story at Newington. Difficult to establish a cohesive competition, with schools scrambling each week to organise games.

Chairman’s Player of the Round: 6. Justice Taumoepeau (Joeys)

Very hard on Folkes for player of the round, put in an almighty shift.
Really would've thought 7. Dempsey from Riverview would be on this list, put in an absolute shift.

Very disappointing for the kings boys yesterday. 2s had the game in the bag losing on the bell.

l dont know what has happened to the kings 1st xv. it is evident they are lacking something. i think that is ben sawyer watching previous games he has was in unreal form, done his job and lead the boys around the park also having great composure for a young kid with the ability to set up something from nothing. turns out sitting on the side lines for a almost 2 years through injury is has proven to be the best thing for him, as every time he comes back he is better then he was before and he is WHAT THERE MISSING. he's the complete opposite of a confidence player, like smith and risati.

kings 2 struggles with line outs yesterday. the 10 will taylor is going to have a blinder next yr he's playing great footy at the moment, him and sawyer worked together greatly in the first few games. 9 wilson is a consisten reliable player and i think he's work goes under the rader. the 2 was disappointing.

The list is garbage. The author was likely suffering from a major dose of "my team lost again today" at the time and couldn't bring themselves to be objective about the team that wrought the damage. The 2nd row selections are the most humourous for me personally given the lineout woes of their respective teams yesterday.

You are right though, Dempsey, Folkes, Plamondon, Spora, Reich all players of the round in their positions by any objective measure.

(alert. my typing is limited so it takes a while to type accurately)

On arrival I ran into old Joeys friends straight away. One who was in the class of 84, introduced me to a Scots supporter who he just met. My friends goal was to meet and greet as many Scots supporters and show the level of hospitality Joeys are legendary for. I enjoyed watching the 3rds game and had brief chats to plenty of players. Afterwards I made my way to the southern end of the stand and meet up with numerous Scots boys. Some who knew me from the first game but a number of Scots lads said hello and introduced themselves. Couple were players in the Scots 2nd XV who gave me some time to talk footy. One Scots member, @anothernudge greeted me with the big smile and firm handshake. A new member (and SBHS fan!) came over and introduced himself. I am so appreciative of those from other AAGPS schools who join in the fun. Thank you @Choc&blue for your time, I hope to hear more from you going forward. Finally good to see @Lindommer who had scored VIP seats, something I have never enjoyed,

Unfortunately my my health dropped dramatically and at half time in the 1st XV. I almost collapsed but somehow got to my feet. In a daze I started to walk home. My internal compass was way off and I did wander behind the Scots supporters on the eastern sideline. They called out by I was in a daze. When I finally got my bearing, I called my neighbor who came and pickup me. It was only when I got home did I watch the second half.

Congratulations Joeys and solid win after a bumpy start. The biggest congratulations one goes to the Scots lads on the eastern touchline who never stopped cheering. The energy they gave only lifted their team. A big thank you to the canteen ladies who once again sold me a stellar pie. Finally, these games are the pinnacle of what the AAGPS is all about, passion for your school, respect to the opposition and fellowship among the supporters. Thanks again Scots for coming west of the darling harbour, many, many thanks to those lunatic Scots boys who stood and cheered even when the heaven opened. God bless you all.

Shore 15s have plenty of talent, fair bit of success in the club comps like state, etc and even some further selection.
