ISA 2025

Old School Rugger

Frank Row (1)
I watched this live with a number of fellow Knox old boys. Augustine's were as flat as a tack in the 1st half, Knox were 'up' despite the regular season been completed. It was 26-8 at half time to Knox.

Auggies were a different team in the 2nd half, scoring 3 straight tries and taking the lead. It changed a few times before the visiting team kicked a penalty to go up by 1. Knox camped in the Auggies 22m and were held up over the line on the final play. Final score 37-36.

The 2nd half was very entertaining. Knox played bloody well, but Augustine's seemed to be able to score at will when they hold the ball.

This week coming is big for Waves and Augs as they match up in almost all age groups. In a few age groups (I believe 15A and 13A) these games will decide the top team in NSW in these age groups. With many of Waves top 16s players playing in the 1sts I believe Augs will get up in the 16s, and Opens. 15s, is a tough one as both sides have been extremley strong coming into this game as the only 2 undefeated teams left. I have Waves getting up by an inch in the 15s, and 13s but I back Augs 14s to get up. Big weekend to come

Agree AS, This weekend should tell a lot.

Let's hope the weather is better than the forecast (which is often wrong).

Having watched the Waves 13,14,15as on Sat v Pats for the 1st time, 2 things were most noticeable.

1. The Pats teams all look well drilled and had a number of very good players in each age group, that explains their strong ISA performances this year and bodes well for the future, in fact the whole Pats program looks solid to me.

2. The Waves 13,14,15as are quite some teams, well coached and a lot of very gifted and athletic boys, wait until you see the 13as!
I expect Auggies will find it very tough to beat any of these teams, but it is schoolboy footy, and Auggies have the home ground advantage.
The 16as could go either way, the Waves were atrocious on Sat, Pats deserved to win, but this will be a new week.

In the Opens it's very hard to not go past Auggies in all grades.
In the 1sts, assuming the Waves have a few key players back, they could trouble Auggies, like Knox did, but at home it would be an upset.
Thing is, you just don't know what Waves team is going to turn up, whereas Auggies have been consistent all year.

At this stage the Barker 1sts are clearly the standout.

Would anyone happen to have access to the replay of Oakhill and Barker as im hearing the game was taken down from NSW rugby tv. Can anyone explain why?
I found it and manages to watch it. Great game I must say. Although apparently Samuel Polley (OAK #8) received a yellow card, which seemed to be taken out of the filming of the first half? However, we did see his second half yellow, which turned to a red. Overall, great game.

The Auggies/Waves games will be immense - will determine the comp I reckon.

Ok so I have a table for CASISA Red but am still on the hunt for results in Black.

A few notes -

1) This is not an official table just my own musings :)
2) a "0" score indicates a declined game. I don't want to call it a forfeit as I assume it's not the boys themselves making this call
3) I've called the cancelled 16A game between Barker and Oakhill a draw and shared points.
4) The Barker/Oakhill fixtures were the closest of the round

I heard it was 67-5 which was unusual to hear.I may be wrong, can anyone give me confirmation on the score

Regarding CASISA Black, was wondering the games for the weekend? I know the ancient Stannies V Kinross rivalry is happening at 'The Fortress'. With both Stannies and Kinross having full strength squads I've been told. Other games?

Still needing most results from Cranbrook v Stannies from last weekend and most Trinity v Kinross as well. Any help anyone can provide would be great

Black has some great match ups this week -

Kinross v Stannies @ The Fortress
Gregs v Cranbrook @ The Hill
Chev and Oxley v Aloys @ Bowral (welcome back Chev! Some very happy memories of playing at your wonderful school)
and the big match up of the division....
Pius v Trinity @ Oxford Falls

Cranbrook won the 2nd XV, similar result to 1st XV, 30-40ish v 5 (sorry, can't recall the exact Cranbrook score, but Stannies was 5).

Good open game of Rugby and result overplays the actual difference between the teams. (Stannies did much better than the scoreline).
