NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

Shore certainly haven't been able to repeat their amazing form from last year but have had a rotten run with injuries. Hopefully players like Rex Bass, Callaghan, Galligan etc can return from injury this term and cause some headaches for other teams in the back end of the comp.
Don’t think Galligan will be back, maybe 1-2 games maximum, but if that’s the case I doubt he will push an injury to recover and train for 1 game, especially in the middle of exams.

Will be exciting to see the Bassingthwaite-Callaghan combo back though.

to old boys throwing punches….
The official report found that the first punches were thrown by the Riverview player who was bumped in the back. He was then pulled away by his team mate. The review panel made up of TSC, Shore and Newington coaches studied the footage from 7 different sources which confirmed that the Joeys old boys did not throw the first punch and those who did were in response the View player,

This all should not have happened if View had put in place proper security measures.

I'm glad to see Bassigthwaite withdrew from participating in the CIS ASSRL to recover well. A very talented young man. Whether it was for rugby or for league it is good when you see young players being responsible with their recovery journey (Well done to their parents also). I can see that Ashton Large also withdrew from CIS tournament. Cyrus Bloomfield, Chaise Geros, Creighton Meafou are few players that are currently playing at the ASSRL straight after the Australian School Rugby tournament at Sunshine Coast.

Sorry for this off-topic question, but I remember a conversation on this forum about the level and quality of schoolboy chants. I am from the QLD GPS and looking for some new chants to add to our locker. Would appreciate it if any of you would be able to let me know some cool things schools in the NSW GPS do and the war cries they chant for the First XV.

as a Joeys old boy i think it is embarrassing that it happened at all, no qualification, no excuses.

In Sydney we are blessed with many AAGPS schools who cheer and chant loudly. Some use drums, one uses bloody bagpipes. Recently Joeys added a new song. At the start of a game they always sing, "walk on" a part of the famous song used by LFC in England. Recently the school has introduced the full version sung by the students at the end of the game. I have not got a copy of this but they are aiming for this kinda sound. Just need another 20000 to sing with them.

IMO old boys stormed the field,

1- this should never happen. Poor security from Riverview and poor class from Joeys old boys.

2- whoever instigated it is one thing, a rowd streaker does not have the right to run and touch/push players. A grown man punching a underage schoolboy, great class!

3- let’s hope this stuff never happen again!!! Great match off footy so often mentioned in a negative light due to ill actions by some.

As exciting as this combo is, if the forwards don’t execute and win their own ball at set piece then there is no backline magic, just a heap of defence that I am sure players coming back from injury would not be keen on!
