Wow. CAS beat GPS. GPS get 8 in 16s schools and CAS 2? Waratah team not available so perhaps the CAS kids finished up there but I don’t believe it is selected yet? And I’m a GPS supporter.

PXV looked better leading 29-15 with 9mins to go, PXV Yellow Card plus Finn Hannon went off, gave CAS the opportunity to steal it.
CAS had size up front, PXV backs much better than their counterparts.
Not sure how the selection process works here however Hannon, Minto & Talakai (CAS No.3) are not in either Schools team , thus I assume there is an express path.

last year many kids didn’t have to participate in the schools comp as they were fast tracked to Waratahs, the included the likes of talen risati.
Absolutely. Its bizarre how posters with no link to the school love to talk absolute nonsense isnt it.

I don’t think they look at those GPS games a whole lot in terms of selection. But I think there was definitely more than 2 worthy CAS players.

Hannon & Minto are both year 10s. They played Presidents.

3 of the Barker players got selected in Sydney (who had first pick over Schools this year).
Also, purely an educated guess (as no one else is ever told), but perhaps the following might have gone straight through to Waratah selection (and hence not in Schools 1, School 2 or Sydney)???
These players were all Waratah U15, but not in Schools 1, School 2 or Sydney.
GPS: Finn HANNON, Julian MINTO
CAS: Kaiasi Talakai (Wav), Jayden Richards (Barker), IJ Holmes (Barker)

Yes they have all been ushered through for some unknown reason. As an interested spectator on the weekend at Camden i was very interested to watch Holmes from Barker play as i had heard good things about him, however i was disappointed in what i saw, passes to the ground, box kicking out on the full. I understand they are only kids and they will make mistakes but i was surprised by the amount of mistakes he made. The Sydney Red team were challenged by both Country Black & Gold teams. I thought the Country Gold half back in jersey 21 was very impressive and outshone Holmes, good service, excellent kicking game, does anyone know who he is or what school he attends? The Country Black number 1 was a big strong unit as were Gold 6/8 & 16. Hopefully some of these Country boys get a chance to shine.

Can't help you there mate. Both the Country Black and Gold teams appear to be listed in alphabetical order on the NSW Juniors website. Quite unfortunate that viewers can't put a name to a face. As a side note, it will be interesting to see which boys have already made the Waratahs when selections do come out.

It is more likely that team selections for schools 1 & 2, Sydney and Country were judged on merit, based solely on the performance and attitude at the trial games. Gen Blue is a season wide selection.
There is much discussion around identifying talent at a young age and sticking regardless of performance in specific trials. I believe selection methodology has been correct this season for the U16 & U18, the players need to bring there best individual & team oriented performance every time they run out if they hope to be selected.

Australian Schools & Junior Rugby Championships - Sunshine Coast, 2025
Thread for anyone following the ASJRC on the Sunshine Coast. I know there are a number of top guys not playing from NSW at this tournament which is a shame but it is what it is. I like the fact we are at least seeing NSW and QLD sides go against the other States again and not just each other...
