Aussie Player Exodus

Mick The Munch

Phil Hardcastle (33)
Soooo - we all agree, shut down the Reds - move all their player to the Tahs and win the World Club championship in '27 (or whenever it starts)

Major Tom

Qld under 16 no.8 Agapetos lote-felo signed by the Roosters. He looked very damaging in the academy comp. Didn’t realise he was playing league as well.

yeah.....Look how the beloved Rebels got Tupou fit and firing before the Tahs have ruined the man
My understanding is that he didn't drink alcohol until he moved to Melbourne. Perhaps Sydney exacerbated the problem. Regardless, he's essential to our chances on this tour and I'm sure they have him on song.

Been playing a little Harold Matthews for the Roosters this year already before injury after being noticed playing a few rep league carnivals last year I believe (in addition to the rep rugby stuff).

He's moving to board at Scots College in Sydney, presumably as part of the deal with the Roosters?

That's the part causing a bit of a stir - there has generally been a gentleman's agreement between the schools that players won't jump comps on scholarship like this, and though a few have been offered it recently this is the first time any of them have taken it up.

Not sure what the consequences will be going forward just yet, beyond the fact that this likely won't be the last time it happens.

It is pretty gross - but Scots will say it's not the school that's offering the scholarship I guess. The Roosters are funding him as a full fee paying student.

I don't think it matters much, I doubt it's a bell that can be unrung. I imagine Nudgee with their dolphins partnership might start to explore doing the same, for example. I really don't like the idea of an arms race in this space, but I get the impression most of the major players couldn't give a fuck, as long as it serves their interests.

Certain he moved here this year already. Heard he was injured and out for the season playing HM. With Lemoto leaving this year He'll slot right into Scots Ist XV as their #8 next year. He will be a handful. Hope he recovers well.

Moana keen on signing Tupou:

Not sure how likely this is to happen and would probably require Nella to take a significant pay cut, but it could be a great move for him to rediscover his form and love for the game.

The Force, Pau and Racing 92 are also listed as chasing him.

Apparently it’s Racing 92, which is probably the worst club for him in the world.

it’s where good players go to die. Made Kolisi, Farrell, Sexton all look terrible. If he had distractions in Melbourne? Make that 100x worse in Paris. See former R92 teammate Camille Chat who should be starting hooker for France but has pissed his talent away drinking and got dismissed after showing up to training drunk earlier this year.

if his agent is recommending R92 then the agent has no care for Tupou at all, only money (what’s new).

I'm pretty sure he's with Wasserman, who are global and manage lots of the big international stars (may also be scumbags?)

He's not one of the Picone's guys - I think they are usually the ones who com up under these discussions?
Yeah with Wasserman (who are just Esportif and got bought up a few years ago) unless he's changed. They're much more on the quietly competent side of things as far as agents go, my understanding is Tupou's moves have always been his rather than agents in his ear.
