I'll caveat this by saying I've never been to Perth or Darwin for sport, but Adelaide is the best sports travel destination in the country.

Melbourne is good too. Certainly similarities in the major venue(s) being a short walk from the CBD.

I think the thing that really makes Adelaide great for sport is that it's a much smaller city so when there's major sport on there it feels like the whole city is really focused on it whereas in Melbourne there's heaps of people going to the sport but the city also carries on as usual (if that makes sense).

Look, the underlying point here is that travelling to watch live sport is awesome.

I get that. I've been to Adelaide to watch a test match and had an awesome. Will go back again soon.

Only recently went to Adelaide and was quite impressed. Felt like a compressed Melbourne where all the activities/sites are next to each other without the kilometres in between. You can go from the main station to the stadium to the convention centre to the river to the casino to the botanic garden in like 10 minutes.

Re the discussion on how many Wallabies would make their squad:

Firstly, I think we are giving some of their players too much credit. Lots of young players there.

Secondly, aside from probably one series in 2001 it has always been the case that we are behind on talent. Even NZ and RSA wouldn’t have had too many series where they could claim an edge there. It’s most always the case that cohesion and home ground advantage is what levels the odds.
