Lions Tour 2025

bit the bullet and got some tickets to the Sydney test. For an out of towner what is the play for dinner and beers beforehand?

I assume everything around accor will be packed?
You'd think so with such a big stadium and a big contingency of British and Irish people there, there will be a great atmosphere around the place come August

This is the perennial question about Homebush. I think if you bury a case of beers and a bag of cheerios/frankfurts/little boys under a tree now there should still be some space.

I will also be there and seriously have no fucking idea as to what to do given it’ll be 2 hours easily from the inner west where we are staying. Kebab shop seems to have good reviews. The tour groups have booked everything good.

I'm wondering if getting a steak mid arvo somewhere, maybe even in the city, then heading out to Homebush is the way - I'm more worried about getting a feed then i am about getting some beers - the bars will always find a way!

Last time they had a big marquee set up in Cathy Freeman Park which is between the station and the stadium with a bar etc.

They also had food vendors in stalls along that area.

It wouldn't be my first choice for spending a lot of time at pre-game but there's certainly likely to be more there for a Lions test than there is normally.

Usually I'd say avoid it but for the Lions I reckon there will be a bit going on out at Olympic park like Braveheart says. For the big event like Origin the bottom of the Pullman is extended out as a big beer garden type thing.

Otherwise enjoy the CBD prior and get on a train with all the other fans. I reckon it'll be a well lubed set of carriages for the trip.

anyone wanna have a crack at the Indigenous/Pasifika team?

Kefu the coach has thrown out some names that almost definitely will be included in the Wallabies 23 or at least 30 like Gleeson, BPA and Salakaia-Loto and probably Nonggorr.

So, assuming he can't pick those because the match is in the same week as the Melbourne test, he's also thrown out Savea?? But I thought it was from within Aus. Don't think the coach understands the concept. He might try and pick Sione Tuipulotu lol.

Predicted team? Indigenous players like Beale, Muirhead and Reilly are surely a lock. I think Pietsch might be too close to gold.

Leota would be great, in Melbourne, home crowd, same goes for Pete Samu. Depends who turns out for the Aus/NZ match too, Quade would be good.

Would never happen but I'd love them to get players like Meafou, Adam Coleman and Monty Ioane in there too. That'd be awesome. Could also pick players like Billy Vunipola, born in Sydney and Moses Tuipulotu.

I think we'll probably be disappointed, I think he's going to struggle to get together a team and it'll be more unheralded blokes than not. This is my predicted 23 with a few liberties with some non Aus qualified Aussies in there. (Are there any eligible 7s?).

1. Isaac Kailea
2. Folau Fainga'a
3. Sam Talakai
4. Miles Amatosero
5. Felix Kalapu
6. Rob Leota
7. Vaolini Ekausi
8. Pete Samu
9. Issak Fines
10. Pat Pelligrini
11. Andy Muirhead
12. Lalakai Foketi
13. Izaia Perese
14. Trison Reilly
15. Kurtley Beale
16. Richie Asiata
17. Scott Sio
18. Pone Fa'amausili
19. Pat Tafa
20. Leafi Talataina
21. Kalani Thomas
22. Reesjan Pasitoa
23. Irae Simone

I was kinda hoping someone like Jarrah McLeod would be selected, but he hasn’t even been tested in the brumbies set up. Pakeho for another crack after the reds? I think mainly picking blokes around the super set up would be the way to go. Front row would be the issue.

Yep, surely to help sell the thing you go Genia/Cooper for the First Nations/Pasifika. Then the Aus/NZ game you go Smith/Mounga.
