Itoje has been named as Lions captain. Rest of the squad to be named overnight. Forwards don't interest me as much as the backline picks. The forwards have incredible depth (maybe barring front row which is interesting) so they'll be monsters no matter who they pick. I assume Willis will be picked from France too.
Backs are interesting: flyhalf??? Surely F. Smith. Does Scottish Sione make the team? I think he's clearly the best 12 when fit and for our sake hope he stays home. But from a narrative perspective he has to be on the plane.

I haven't seen much of Itoje in the last few months. But he must have done something pretty good to improve his chances. He seemed a little off the pace last time the poms played Aus, not to mention a flog who the ref warned about his continual screaming in the lineout trying to put the other team off.

Locks will be Beirne, Itoje, McCarthy and Chessum. On current form you could honestly pair Itoje and Chessum together. But I think it'll be Itoje with either Beirne/McCarthy, maybe Beirne at 6. Though I think their embarrassment of riches at 6 will force Beirne into the 2nd row.

Despite what Lendrum said I can't see NZR releasing anyone who's in the frame for AB v France or Maori AB v Scotland. Whoever does get released will be way down the depth chart.
