Aussie Player Exodus

Larry Dwyer (12)
presented without comment as don't know full context, my understanding is at that age pretty much no one getting paid to play rugby in aus?

whats the difference between him and another young prop like Macarius Pereira now playing in France. Schoolboys star at nudgee, played for all qld reps, Australian reps, played half a season at norths QLD Colts and left half way through to take up contract with Pau no queries at all. Pretty sure he played in qld reps the same year he left so was still in "the system"

Last year Lehopo Leota was still in grade 12 at Iona and was signed up by Racing. He still played QLD reps the same season for Under 18's.

Dont see why this kid is being treated differently.

Any of the others will only be properly relevant if they were 16 when they were signed - World Rugby's regulations have a pretty significant distinction between 16 and 17

The actual answer is RA hasn't blocked anyone, they have referred this case to WR (World Rugby) because at 16 he is too young to be captured by the specific process and compensation requirements that cover 17 - 23 year olds.

Presumably, the WR (World Rugby) regulators never envisioned foreign clubs to be making contractual approaches to people younger than 17, or at least said you shouldn't do it, but then didn't say what to be done if it is done

I'll tune in for a match to see some name guys of yesteryear (Genia and Quade are still trucking, Flapaf***nara, Brodie etc) then after 20 mins it's all reduced itself to a processional simulation of something that seems to have no real consequence aside from mercenaries chasing match bonuses and so I change channels.

Fuck Deans, fuck Hansen, fuck Rennie and fuck Slackbladder.

Nawaqanitawase strong for the Chooks tonight in their win over the Panthers. Still stings losing him.

Nawaqanitawase is going to be (well on his way) an NRL superstar

Huge loss for us.

He was hugely important in the Rooster's win tonight.

the story goes that he asked for a 5 year contract - he was all-in with the Tahs and Wallabies.
RA offered him 2 years or less and his agent said - byebye.
classic RA.

Such a lazy line. 5 years ffs. When was the last rugby player signed to a five year deal? Folau didn't even get a 5 year deal. Even 18mths ago when he signed it was a significantly different landscape with the Rebels stuff going on etc. Do I wish we kept him? Yeah for sure but it isn't always RA's fault when someone goes somewhere else
