The Pacific Rugby Players' Welfare group are not supportive of Kean's nomination to the ExCo. This is pretty explosive stuff!

It would make World Rugby start to look FIFA level dodgy, but even FIFA wouldn't have him.

In a normal organisation this would have to have enough stink about it to sink the seconder (FFR), but Laporte (FFR President) to my understanding, will be elected unopposed. Interestingly, this seems to be the only nomination that hasn't followed the North/South divide other than Bill Beaumont being seconded by Fiji (nicely tying the whole president / vice president bid to Fiji), and France seconding the Rugby Africa exco bid. https://www.world.rugby/news/568603?lang=en

"World Rugby notes the Fiji Rugby Union’s decision to stand down Fiji Rugby Union Chairman Ratu Vilikesa Bulewa Francis Kean from the World Rugby Council, and therefore withdrawing his candidature for the World Rugby Executive Committee, following new allegations published in the UK Sunday Times."

Doesn't that mean the other 7 are automatically elected?

Nominations are closed, so yes it does. Kean's position on the WR (World Rugby) Council now goes to FJR CEO John O'Connor.

Also means Fiji don't necessarily have to vote for the Beaumont - Laporte ticket given they can no longer deliver the quid pro quo they pretty obviously promised. Bainanarama (who's Fiji RU President) can be a vindictive cnut, wouldn't put it past him to now back Pichot as a "fuck you" to the NH establishment.
