Women's Rugby Union

Very cold, blustery wind and a little rain for the start of the Women's match between Parramatta and Warringah at Merrylands RSL Club Rugby Park last night. Traditional rivals, Parra and Warringah put on a good show for the small crowd of supporters who braved the conditions, with the Two Blues women running out winners 25-21 (five tries to three).

I doubt either team will be satisfied with their own performance but the match was intense as both sides competed to the letter of the law at each and every breakdown (and sometimes just a touch past the last letter of the law!) making continuity difficult to achieve. Some photos on the Two Blues website.

Parramatta are raising funds to support our three Wallaroos players who are soon to fly to France to participate in the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup.

Auction of a signed 2012 Wallaby jersey and Gilbert Rugby ball with accompanying COAs is being conducted on the Two Blues website.

How good is this game!

Finally have regained control of the keyboard now that the kitten has moved on.

High quality game for sure. Lovely ground they are playing at.

First premier 1 Newcastle Mens rugby on BarTV youtube, now this, & then the Super Rugby Final. Brilliant smorgasbord of Rugby!

I would have loved the Wallaroos to get that 4th try bonus point but credit to the Saffer defence.

Watched most of the game this morning. Sharni Williams is playing some great rugby. Her defence is brilliant.

Ash Hewson has been a standout at fullback, particularly in the first game against SA.

On to the French!

With the same 3 division, best loser to the semi finals as the JWC we need to win to guarantee we go through given we haven't grabbed 4 try bonus points.

France will be creditably hard for the Wallaroos. With no bonus points we have to win to progress.

Yep.

In pool A, England and Canada are already on 10 points each and are playing each other so we definitely need to win our game.

Losing the game with 2 bonus points and a whole host of other results going our way isn't even worth considering.

I am absolutely stoked to hear of that Irish victory!

TBF we've had the measure of the Saffas & Welsh previously so beating them was expected from me but the French will be a much tougher prospect for sure.

England favourites most certainly after that Kiwi's loss.

Great effort by our 7's team in the 3 "invitational" matches against Canada at the Gold Coast 7's with the Golden Girls winning the series 2-1.

I think we need to get some female callers for these games, because Marto is an embarrassment.
