Hey Guys,

I read the article on Quade Cooper re-signing with the ARU and it said something about will chambers being linked with the Bulldogs. Can anyone confirm this?

I know that he is currently out of form/favour with the reds, but I certainly think that he will be a great loss to Australian Rugby if he were to go back to league. Especially as he is a great role model to some of the Indigenous kids from the NT for Rugby. Would of love to have seen him move to the Waratahs

Cheers

what is it with the league players getting dropped- havin a dummy spit then going back to league?
i saw so much potential in chambers last year and feel like a right tit for talking him up so much in the off season!

He looked such a great talent last year. Most were picking him as RWC Wallaby. What happened to his form?
Tahu is a real nut case. Don't think Chambers is the same.

Chambers had shoulder surgery and his confidence in defense dropped right off, now his positioning himself badly and falling off tackles.

His got the skillset needed, he displayed that in a few games last year, the game against the Bulls and Stormers at Suncorp been two of his best games IMO.
This year he just hasn't had the game time needed to find his rythm, Link tries giving him a few games early on in the year but he didnt take the opportunity.

What is it with second year syndrome with some players?

It seems to occur so often...

Hopefully if he sticks around he can make up for it next year...

Saw this on Landline a couple of weeks ago, not super relevant to Chambers' playing future but he definitely seems to have his head screwed on ok. Great work by the Reds too for doing something like this.

He should stick to one code and try and master it.

Without the fanfare, the top ups, the whinging, the innuendo..... in fact nothing like Tahu at all, except he swapped from league.

I think you will find that he is actually on a pretty bloated contract, and all parties concerned who are paying for it do not see the investment benefits anymore.

Hes an NT boy, and a proud aboriginal. He would be a real icon in some of those community's, so it is great that he has the application and desire to help out.

Union and League are very strong in Nhulunbuy in North Eastern Arnhem Land where Will is from. It is one of the few places where they have a foothold over AFL. There are some good players kicking around up there.

He showed last year that he has more than enough talent to make it - I too was talking him up as a potential wallaby 13. He's been playing this year like he's drunk. I've seen some form slumps but not many like this one...

don't agree with the "drunk" analagy but he has certainly not lived up to his potential - thought he was going to be a champion after last year but not to be - shame really

I think it could be a lack of game time, has he been playing any club rugby when not with the Reds? I think he looks like he is having to think before acting, this will disappear with more game time and things will start to become an automatic reaction to what is happening in front of him.

A lack of game time has possibly confused him a little and when in doubt he returns to his League brain.

He is quality and will return to form

He has alot of potential and he was playing great last year.

It would be a massive mistake if Link lets him go and I'm a tahs supporter.

I was sorry to see Chambers leave. There are certainly a few Super rugby sides that could do with him. I found these comments by the Melbourne Storm's operations manager interesting:

Storm football operations manager Frank Ponissi said Chambers had returned a better player but had faced challenges to reacquaint himself to the nuances of rugby league - including stopping himself from releasing the tackled player and jumping to his feet as though he was contesting a breakdown.

''Defence and just getting back into the way we train would be the two greatest challenges he has faced,'' Ponissi said. ''He has come back a better attacking player in terms of he looks sharper and quicker and his hands have improved, but the game of rugby is so different defensively with the 10 metres and the different lines, so that's taken a while to adjust back.

For a lot of league players who make the switch to Union the first reaction to things going badly is to look for a return to League. Given the expense of recruiting league players it's a real gamble to recruit one.
