Hey all,
I have been cautiously approached by a good man called Red Beard who posts over at The Silver Fern.
We had a bit of a challenge a while back about him organising a team, and us organising a team to play a match next year in NZ during the RWC.
For those who don't know, RB was a pretty decent prop (we are talking NPC), but he has agreed that to accommodate older farts and young alike it could be a Golden Oldies type set-up.
So, I am just trying to test the waters and see who would be interested. If it flies, maybe we could look at getting a jersey made up (I just made that bit up, but what the hell!!:lmao:).
So, who's in? And more importantly, what position do you want to / think you can play.

Wow, sounds intriguing...

I will probably be over there working, so depending on the place/time I would definately be up for it.

Will play loose head or 8

Unclear whether I will actually get over to NZ at the moment, but shotgun 15. Or one of the wings.

RB's a Waikato man, so maybe around Hamilton - his club at Te Aroha are thinking of holding a 15 a side tournament, so we could play as part of that, or just maybe a one-off would be better.

Who will coach this side? What about Lee Grant as Head Coach, Austin as Backs Coach and Bruce Ross as Scrum Coach?

Love to, but I'm not going to be able to get to RWC11. Best of luck boys. I reckon NTA might play if he's going.

Maybe naza could organise some of the Colo retards to help. There's a handy hooker over there.

I'm also a back rower and may be tempted to take part, provided the creaky old body could hold up. I'll be on the North Island for the whole time, so this could be possible.

Do you boys know what the odds of arranging a ticket is? Is it too late in the piece?

If I end up getting one I'd be keen.

Tickets still for sale, new individual ones go on sale Sep 10 I believe. Even if I don't get a ticket, I'd probably go over for the game and find a nice pub to watch a couple!

still not sure if im going or not but put me down with a question mark for hooker, loose or 5/8

Are you Huia Edmonds?

If anyone needs a tiny 15 year old scrummie/winger i may be in NZ but dont count on it... also when can we train?

Train? You mean "stretch".

From another G&GR thread "Warming Up":
Nowadays the pre-match warm up is practically an industry in itself. When I played, the warm up consisted of a piss, a smoke, and the run onto the field.

When did it all go pear shaped?

We were far more professional at London French - we used to stand in a circle and pass the ball for a few minutes.

Guys who came straight from being on the piss might have a pre-match chunder as well

One of your best Gagger.

So - that is the derivation of your username - I wondered.

One guy I played with accidentally put Dencorub on his balls once pre-match...that seemed to warm him up pretty good!
