Bieber has struggled, he must be pretty good at training.
Beale is pretty good.
Coops seems to struggle for the first 30 minutes of a game, then is ok. He was fairly average all year though.

I think i want Beale to take over for a bit.

And what about general kicking ? I have never seen a halfback, in the entire history of the multi-verse, kick the ball away more than Will Genia. What. The. Fuck. Besotted by box kicks. Why is he gifting possession away ? And, apparently for Naas Genia, the fewer chasers the better too ! Deadset, what is this bloke on ?

I think we need to persist with JOC (James O'Connor).

But more importantly the ARU need to stop being tight arses and pay for a full time kicking coach. The Saffers have two 80% plus kickers, we should be aiming for the same.

Don't we have Braam Van Straaaaaaaaten on the payroll still ?

Anyway, what's there to coach ? O'Connor just needs to learn 1 thing - line the ball up correctly off the kicking tee. That's where he's falling apart. You can see it before he kicks it - that's not lined up right. Deadset, fork out 50 cents for a fucking protractor, the angle is fucking wrong son. The rest is just your natural kicking motion and he is well served there.

Stick with JOC (James O'Connor). Unless we can borrow Morne Steyn just for conversions like in the NFL.

Barnes is kicking fine for his club. JOC (James O'Connor) is just too inconsistant. He has been missing them since the S15 and isn't a long range option.

Not good enough to be even the #2 kicker for the Tahs but good enough to win us a RWC ?
JOC (James O'Connor) doesn't seem to be handling the pressure of kicking. QC (Quade Cooper) is too loose. Maybe Kurtley. My gut feeling is Barnes will have done loads of kicking practice during his layoff and will be hitting them well. Plus, unlike the other kickers he was there four years ago which will help him handle the pressure.

barnes missed a few on the weekend, although that statement doesn't reflect the circa 1000 conversions he took.

Welcome back Naza!

I agree about the box kicks though, I'd almost rather see KB (Kurtley Beale)'s chip and chase than them. They're such a low percentage play and IMO are only ever useful if trying to clear from your own 22 and can't go quick enough to your 10 or another kicker further back

JOC (James O'Connor) has had a couple of off games. You don't drop a kicker based on that, otherwise you'd drop every kicker, up to and including Dan Carter. Continuity is the key.

Commentators had a fair comment on the weekend - this is probably the first time in his career that JOC (James O'Connor) has had to battle some adversity. Its all come pretty easy thus far.

Beale's game winning kick in SA last year won me for life. I would back him for a clutch kick but he didn't do the job week in, week out for the Tahs. I remain underwhelmed by our options.

The box kick is becoming too predictable. My golden rule of rugby = > do what the opposition doesn't want you to do. Gifting away possession is exactly what opponents want. Opening up counter attacking opportunities is exactly what opponents want. Box kick in small doses.

You cant score without posession.

It is as simple as that. Keep the ball in hand and if it take 20 phases to move 10 metres then so be it.

Rugby is a game best played in the oppo half, where ruck penalties don't cost 3 points.

How many length of the field tries do you see at elite level?

That said, the box kick is evil as it neither gains much territory AND it gives the ball away.
