Yes , that's all very well , but which clubs are the 2012 rep players going to ?
Either that, or it demonstrates that if you do not make it at schoolboy level then you are finished.
Have a look at the 7's side. If you could not field a team from the SS that would flog these kids, then I would give up.
If you are not an early physical developer and make the state 16's side, or you do not go to a GPS School. it is just about all over as far as rep footie as an adult is concerned.
Look at who has been invited to join the tah's in the off season.Schoolboys and failed mungoes. They also have a prop who finished the year in 3rd grade. How does that work?
The guy awarded best and fairest in the SS last year is a 10, who was dropped from the 7's program and is obviously not considered as worthy of a look by the Tahs.BTW he was neither a 16 yo prodigy nor a GPS product, IIRC.
Absolutely agree No. 9. I know personally 4 of the category you mention in paragraph 2. They have a ridiculously inflated opinion of themselves and a skewed idea of what it takes from where they are to get to the top. Kurtley Beale has been mentioned elsewhere as one who went through that path. Ask any of his Tah team mates from his first year and they'll tell you what a precocious ratbag he was. Thankfullly his talent and some guidance brought him back to earth, somewhat. The Manu's Koalas system produced our last U/19 World Championships result, we came 8th ahead of Scotland, Samoa, Fiji and Italy. While a win against the Darth Vaders in anything lately is to be savoured I disagree with your analogy about Manu's Koala club. It is the reason we can't transition to senior level success because of the skewed vision it creates in its cohort.
The "I'm 16 and I have a birthright to Wallaby selection, get me a manager now, excuse me you want me to play colts and prove myself? haven't you read my portfolio and by the way the Dragons and Eels want to do coffee with me so hurry up" mentality is what causes the damage. Yep, I've experienced most of these responses when in different club positions.
Give anyone more than what they deserve before they have eared it and you risk the outcomes we are now getting.
Just give them some minor guidance and encouragement until they (and the parents) are mature enough to be humble in chasing the ambition that any talent at 20 years plus can still achieve
Seems a pity and a little hard to see what the GGs have to offer that easts dont.Snouts are saying David Horwitz (Easts Junior, Scots College) will be at Randwick.
What does an East junior mean?Snouts are saying David Horwitz (Easts Junior, Scots College) will be at Randwick.

I can't recall ever seeing an Easts team at Stat champs(Have to admit it has been a few years since I have been)

Norths, it seem by virtue of Hunters Hill coming in, seem to send a team in all ages these days.I don't ever remember playing them. Same for both Norths and Uni.

Uni have some relationship with Canterbury.
In 2011 they had a team in the u13's.
Norths (Norths and now Hunters Hill).
Norths won 15s two years ago.
You've left out the largest junior club in Australia - Mosman
Well, after Round 1 I see that the dust has mostly settled. But a few names were missing. I haven't seen Brogan Roods named anywhere (yes, 2011 rep, I know) - it was reported he was leaving University for Randwick, but there's no sign of him. Didn't see Horwitz's name. Quite a few others seem to have given the game away - and I see that Will paterson, who had plenty of noisy admirers when he was with Waverley (and, let's not forget, Combined States) is with Souths in their U20 league squad.

Horwitz is at Randwick, but I understand he's injured
Definitely @ Randwick as is Roods. Both have slight knee issues ATM. The pelican bench there is littered with some decent lads with knees, ankles, hands and fingers. Some very handy players that will be welcome back on the parkHorwitz is at Randwick, but I understand he's injured
