Wallaby eligibilty should NEVER have been an issue - but it's a very good example of how RA (the custodians of the great game in OZ - ALL of OZ) has done nothing to help the re-establishment of the Western Force.

Such a minor request by RWA, it should have been easy for RA to allow but it was like pulling teeth.
Do you really think RA is supportive and being helpful in providing a future for WA rugby and a Competition that will promote rugby in Aust and Asia, and how so?

I agree. There's a big safety issue with scrums as well so we'll see. It may be problematic but give it a go and see.

I think its wonderful that the Force supporters have gotten behind their team. The cheap ticket price is certainly an inducement , so well done there and also the band playing to start the excitement off. Well done and have a great night.

They've spoken a lot about fan engagement at the ground. Which is a fairly big thing for Rugby. Not something we've ever really excelled at. Hopefully everything works out well on that front as it's easily as important as what happens on the pitch and will be key in maintaining these levels of support and interest.

Have you ever lived in WA? Because I have and can tell you them being dumped has probably been the making of them in regards to being backed by the state's population. West Australians are easily the most parochial population of any within our borders. Yes, even more so than Queenslanders. Thanks to the distances involved and the isolation that entails. The Force saga fits into that parochialism nicely and any show of support would be seen as a means of sticking it up us East Coast elites.

I think many Force fans might actually agree that the best thing to happen to the team was being dumped as the backlash has really galvanised the community...........
It was only a couple of years ago they were wooden spooners struggling for crowds and sponsorship money.

And now slim we’re not hamstrung by RA telling us how and where to market ourselves or rely on their hip pocket to keep us in the game. It’s quite fucken liberating actually. It’s the first time in a long time that myself and many others here in Perth are trying to scrounge tickets to a sold out event! Rugby too! Who would’ve thunk it eh? Being an unpopular 2nd tier sport and all!

Yes, I know that. I have worked for a couple of companies (and the Reserve Bank) which had national reaches, and have had a fair bit to do with the place.
Just the time difference alone has influenced the corporate culture a helluva lot, because it has meant that local managers have to take more responsibility (as a generalisation).
But as much as I admire what has been achieved in a very short space of time, I do remember the rapture with which Perth greeted the Western Force when they were admitted to the Super Rugby competition.

Just on the subject of the cheap $10 tickets. I think this would apply to standing room/cheap seats. I paid $100 membership and $323 for a season ticket (7 games) in the gold section of grandstand. All the other seats in the grandstands would have sold for similar price depending what colour platinum, gold, silver etc. On the ticketmaster website there were only 4 or 5 single seats left in the main grandstand and these were selling for $74 each for this one game. My point is that the total gate takings will add up to substantially more than multiplying the crowd by ten bucks. Having said that I do applaud them for making the $10 tickets available. A full house will make the atmosphere fantastic.

This maybe the perception of someone living outside of WA but I don't know a single Western Force fan who would agree with you Slim.
No group of players and supporters need to be put through what was forced upon them by the ARU/RA over the past nearly 18 months. It will not be forgotten!
It will take us a couple of seasons to rebuild the player group to the same potential as that shown by the 2017 player group.
Something good can/may come from the worst situations but it's not a path that any of us would willingly follow.

I don't know ForceFan. I kind of agree with Slim. I think of it as a short term pain for long term gain. If World Series gets off the ground and we are in a meaningful competition next year, I think we are far better off than if we were still in Super Rugby. Being rended last year may have saved us from the death of a thousand cuts (37 and counting?) that everyone else has to endure. More importantly I feel like we have a bit of hope. I don't know if I'd use the word galvanised, perhaps more rejuvenated.
