Great post BDA and as long as we kick every goal and penalty, tackle every opposition player with the ball, catch every ball whether from kick or pass, win every scrum, win every lineout with a perfect throw, break the line at will then there will be no probs winning the RWC - we would be a certainty. Unfortunately or fortunately it is a game of rugby where a dropped ball, missed tackle etc etc etc can win or lose the game even though teams have focussed on the bloody thing for 4 years

I think it's fair to say that we'll have to play to the limits of our ability to win the thing. There are other teams that on paper look as good or better and you also have to have a bit of luck. We could have been gone in 1991 had the bounce of the ball gone differently from Noddy to Campo against Ireland. Likewise, had Bernie not kicked straight against the Boks in the semi in 1999, we would have been toast. So much has to go right to be world champions and not a lot can go wrong.

My prediction is Higginbotham will be the villain. Off the bench, cheap shot, penalty to All Blacks. Australia lose the final.

A competitive front row will help the cause. If we do solve the front row department problems i think the teams chances improve greatly.

Competitive front row is all dependent on Deans. Robinson, TPN, Moore, Slipper, Kepu won't let anyone down.

First - Welcome to the forum

Second - After one post it looks like are shit stirring and fishing for trouble. Keep it constructive bloke and maybe you would lke to share a positive outlook inline with the title of the thread. Feel free to share with us how you think we will get as far as the final for the above scenario to happen.

My prediction is Higginbotham will set up the match winning try. Off the bench at the 50 minute mark, great advantage line breaking run, sweet offload to AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) who in turn changes direction and wrong-foots Thorn. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) passes to QC (Quade Cooper) after drawing multiple defenders from the left, unbelievable QC (Quade Cooper) grubber to the left hand corner, JOC (James O'Connor) sweeps through to gather and score the try to put us 5 points up with 30 seconds to play. Beale takes the conversion and the whistle is blown. Australia win the final.

Fixed.

That's how we roll, my friends.....

Discipline will win the RWC for our boys. Sure we have the best halves combination in the world right now, we may even have a back three that can run rings around most but if our boys give away too many soft penalties we'll have no chance of beating the teams we will have to beat to win back Bill. I do think RD is the man who can instill the required discipline though.

Also to beat the All Blacks (they are the team to beat) our kickers need to be pin point because everyone knows how dangerous they are on the counter and with their backs in such sublime form we do not want to give them any space to run. I think our line out will be stronger than theirs so a smart kicking game that keeps the ball in their red zone will squash them and win it for us.

You cannot be serious.

Well, why not share your insight into what will win the RWC for the Wobs? What part of the playing stocks, coaching or admin do you think will make the most significant contribution? Or is there something else, some intangible point of difference between the Wobs and the other nations that may get us over the line?

Remember, the glass is half full. Always half full.....not the other way around.

George Orwell would be proud of this place.

Which club did he play for again? Came through the English system if memory serves me correctly. I recall him as a pretty handy 9, who seemed to be able to see things happen in play before they did.

Or am I confusing him with his big brother.....?

1) Hunger.

It's one of the things which has been missing for a while, but starting to come back, like the great Wallaby teams.
The hunger to just smash into every breakdown, get up, and race to the next one. The hunger to scramble desperately in cover defence, or to defend on your try line for 20+ phases. The burning hunger to win and be the best, some people have it (TPN, Pocock, Genia) and some don't (Mumm, Chis). Basically the antithesis of the attitude brought to the 07 quarter.

2) Parity at scrum time
3) The breakdown (see 1 and rewatch QF 07)
4) A reds style kicking game
5) 75+% place kicking
6) an outside centre
7) support play - backup, backup, backup
