I think John Grant is in the Tahs Academy, but he'd be a good buy. Needs some development though, he's very much a rough diamond.

There might be a few saffers available too.
I hear Francois Hougaard (sp?) is being eyed off by a few teams over there. Surely coming over to Perth for a couple of years would be good for him. He could still be under the eyes of Boks selectors as well...

I'd be amazed if the Reds hold onto all of their young talent in the backs. Tapuai, Harris, Chambers, Fainga'a, plus Lucas and even Lance look lively, and they are all fighting with Hynes for 3 positions (12, 13, 15). Tapuai is who I think I would target from that lot for the Force.

edit: Of course, in the above I didn't consider the contract situations of any of the players.

Saffers are more attractive as SARU pick players from overseas leagues for the Springboks. In Australia and NZ you need to be playing domestically to be considered for a gig.

Hougaard would be OK, someone like Bryan Habana would go down well with the expats, but his game is rapidly declining.

I would certainly be raiding the Reds academy just quietly, abundance of talent all ready to play S15. Not sure of contracts either but you think the Reds would be holding onto Harris, Fainga'a and Lucas at least. Tapuai and Chambers would be easy gets but I think Chambers is a little off at the moment, so the suggestion of Tapuai wouldn't be far wrong, maybe Lance too

i'd take all the money a offer it to pocock now to save all this crap happening again next year. Plus he's the only one of these young guns thats truly worth the hype.

This may sound odd, but I think the Force backline will function better without O'Connor. It showed that in the two games he missed through injury. I suspect the others wait for him to do something instead of doing it themselves. Don't forgot that even with O'Connor, the Force has scored the least tries in the SXV.

Pocock is who the Force should build their empire around and I was particularly pleased to read the language used in the Force press release. I took that to mean: Mate you're not as valuable or important as you think you are. Pull your head in.

Cutter, I think there is huge validity to what you have said. Our game plan this year (and I've been saying it all year) has been very simple: throw the ball to JOC (James O'Connor)..............and pray. Next year, they'll have to develop a more rounded game and involve the outside backs a bit more. Sometimes necessity really is the mother of invention. I also agree on Pocock and the message from the press conference.

What everyone should remember is that a couple of years ago Reds supporters were all doom and gloom when Barnes left.
At that stage neither Cooper or Genia were superstars in fact I remember a youtube going the rounds of all Coopers bloopers.
Also at that time A. Fainga'a was only a makeweight in the deal when the reds only really wanted his brother. Look how times have changed.
Some of the names mentioned in this thread are no better than the current Force backs whose form lately with or without O'Connor playing has been good. What will be missing is JOC (James O'Connor),s goalkicking especially if Shepherd isn't fit and that should be their focus in recruitment.

How about Joseph Tomane.

Rumors abound that he is being courted by the brumbies, but it might be worth throwing a contract his way.

He has a history in union and at about 190cm and 105kg, Tomane could play at outside centre, freeing up pat dellit for elsewhere.

I'll accept that he may be more of the crash ball, straight running inside backs that others have stated the Force already have an abundance of, but he does have a bit of x-factor about him.

Apparently he's one of handful of players on the verge of signing with the Brumbies...

I'd say they'd be too late...

I'm pretty sure he is contracted till 2012 with the Titans. Not sure if you know something I don't.

He is a good young league player. I would prefer to get these young guys than the established stars, because obviously there cheaper, there is less pressure and they're more able to adapt. He will certainly improve and could adapt.
