So it looks liek teh force will sign David harvey on a short term contract to see how he goes (see link below)
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/union/13141855/sevens-player-answers-force-sos/

So my question is he looks to have some very good credentials 2 catchpole medals and the like but has yet to be pick up by a super club...any reasons why this is the case?

Also a second young player Tyrone Lefau from NZ national provincial championship side Counties-Manukau.

Any way is can only be a good thing for teh force and not much can get worse after the efforts of friday night.

Has Harvey played any super rugby before?

has a good kicking game. Could do well behind the force pack.

He's been one of the top flyhalves in the Shute Shield for a number of years, though as others have indicated: his attack is better than his defence.

He can play fullback also because he has a good running game, and although he can use the ball with supports he prefers to run it himself. He will never lack confidence and sometimes he carries that too far. He is not a bad tactical kicker and place kicker either.

The questions about him are:

1. Will he be able to take his club form to the Super level?

2. Will the 3 Horsemen of the Force backrow be able to cover up defensive lapses?

Mind you: being a poor defender never disqualified anybody from playing flyhalf in an Oz Super team. Perhaps Harvey could be hidden at fullback on defence.

I believe he is a relation of Neil Harvey (possibly nephew). He played Colts and some Grade for Parramatta before joining Gordon about 5 years ago. I understand that he was to play with Norths this year but this Force contract could change that.
I would have said that he is a player who both kicks a lot and scores or assists in a lot of points. I think this is because he tends to kick from first phase but attack more in counter attack when the defence is less structured.
While his defence will be challenged, he doesn't avoid contact as much as he would have a few years back.

I have never seen him play but not to many "average" players win 2 Catchpole medals...no?

If it's relative to Super XV then yes, the winners would come under the 'average' banner. The last five winners have been Dave Harvey, Brendan McKibbin, Andrew Smith, Scott Fardy and Gavin Debartolo; all are good players, but none have really excelled in the Super XV.

There's a little highlights package of Dave up on Youtube if you want to check him out; I think he's a handy pick up for you guys.
